Taking a look at the Week 10 college football odds, North Texas opened as a massive 21.5-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread has increased by two full points after early betting, as the Mean Green are currently available at -23.5. The total for the game is sitting at 60.5 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: North Texas vs UTEP

UTEP has now lost six out of their first seven games this season after falling 42-21 at home against LA Tech last weekend to drop to 1-6 on the season overall. The Miners gave up 21 unanswered points in the second quarter and never recovered, as the Bulldogs tacked on two more touchdowns after the half en route to a double-digit victory. QB Kai Locksley went 17/30 for 227 yards and a touchdown through the air while also finding the end zone once on the ground despite averaging only 1.7 yards per carry. Treyvon Hughes was solid out of the backfield, rushing for 60 yards and a touchdown on a team-high 13 carries. Jacob Cowing scored the only other touchdown of the game for the offense, hitting pay dirt on one of his two catches for 70 yards. Overall, UTEP gained over 350 total yards of offense and scored three touchdowns despite coming up well short on the scoreboard.

The Miners had a brutal outing on the other side of the ball against LA Tech, surrendering almost 500 total yards of offense and six touchdowns. UTEP had no answer for Bulldogs QB J’mar Smith, as he passed for 338 yards and three touchdowns.

North Texas couldn’t find a way to get past Charlotte on the road last weekend, coming up just a single point short despite outscoring the 49ers 21-7 in the first half. The Mean Green really came out flat in the fourth quarter, giving up 18 points en route to a 39-38 defeat. QB Mason Fine was fantastic, going 26/38 for 394 passing yards and five touchdowns through the air. RB Tre Siggers led the way on the ground, rushing for 131 yards on a team-high 17 carries. Jyaire Shorter absolutely torched the Charlotte secondary, exploding for 111 yards and three touchdowns on just three catches. As a whole, North Texas generated almost 550 total yards of offense and scored five touchdowns in the loss.

The Mean Green really struggled defensively against Charlotte, giving up almost 600 total yards of offense and six touchdowns. North Texas got embarrassed all game by the 49ers receiving duo of Victor Tucker and Tyler Ringwood, as the pair combined for 240 yards and two touchdowns.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: UNDER 60.5

While the Mean Green should find a way to win this game outright, I’m really not seeing a ton of value with either side against the spread in this Conference USA clash. I certainly don’t want to lay over three full touchdowns in order to take a North Texas team that has given up at least 30 points in four straight games. However, I do think that there is some slight value to be found with the UNDER on 60.5 total points scored in this spot. While the Mean Green have really struggled defensively for much of the season, UTEP has scored 21 points or less in six consecutive games. It really does seem like the perfect storm for the UNDER to hit on Saturday afternoon, as the North Texas defense is cancelled out by a bad Miners offense while the high-flying Mean Green offense may have a tougher time here in Week 10 against a surprisingly strong UTEP defense.

It is also worth noting that the total has gone UNDER in three straight games that UTEP has played on the road this season. The UNDER has also come through in four out of their last six games overall as well. Unless this spread moves down substantially before kickoff, I’m going to avoid both schools against what looks to be a pretty efficient number overall in favor of the UNDER on 60.5 total points in this Conference USA battle here in Week 10.
