Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Ohio vs Akron
Ohio Bobcats (5-6 SU, 3-8 ATS)
The Bobcats put to crushing losses at home to Miami, OH (21-24) and Western Michigan (34-37) behind them with a 66-24 blowout win at Bowling Green last Tuesday. It was a rare cover for the Bobcats, who are just 3-8 ATS on the season.
With that win Ohio kept their bowl hopes alive. All they have to do is defeat the Zips to get bowl eligible at 6-6. No question the Bobcats had hoped for more coming into the season, as they were thinking MAC title, but you have to think getting to a bowl is important to this team.
Akron Zips (0-11 SU, 1-10 ATS)
The Zips come into this one off a 17-20 loss at Miami (OH). While Akron remained winless on the season, they put to rest the possibility of going the entire season without a cover. The Zips easily covered against the RedHawks as a 45-point dog.
It’s going to be interesting to see what kind of effort we get from Akron in this one. Will they show up to try and get that elusive first win or are they just ready to throw in the towel and get this season over with.
Last year the Bobcats won 49-28, but the Zips covered as a 24-point dog. That also happened to come in the regular-season finale. Ohio has won 9 of 10 overall in the series, but the Zips did win 37-34 as a 14.5-point dog the last time they hosted the Bobcats.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Ohio -27.5
My early lean here would be to lay the points with the Bobcats on the road. There’s just no way I’m putting my hard earned money on the Zips. I don’t care that they are winless or that this will be their home finale (senior day). Ohio is hands down the better team and I just don’t think it’s asking a lot for them to win here by four touchdowns.

Don’t be fooled by Akron’s cover last week against the RedHawks. Miami (OH) had nothing to play for in that game, as they had already locked up the top spot in the MAC East and all they are focused on right now is being 100% ready to go for the MAC Championship Game next week. If there was a game the Zips were going to cover, that was it.
This would be a different story if Ohio was already bowl eligible and were just playing for pride, but that’s not the case. If the Bobcats didn’t care about getting to a bowl, they wouldn’t have showed up last week at Bowling Green. I see no reason not to expect a similar beatdown on the road this week.
Bobcats are going to be able to score at will. A big reason for that is they should be able to run at will. Ohio is averaging 213 yards/game and 5.5 yards/carry and will be facing a Zips defense that is allowing 210 ypg on the ground. Give me the Bobcats -27.5.
