The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns (2-1) travel to Athens this weekend to battle the Ohio Bobcats (1-2). Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM EST on Saturday, September 21st at Peden Stadium and the game will be televised on ESPN+.
Taking a look at the Week 4 college football odds, Ohio opened as a 3.5-point home favorite earlier this week. That line has moved by half a point after early betting, as the Bobcats are currently listed at -3. The total for the game is sitting at 64.5 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Ohio vs Louisiana
Louisiana won their second straight game last weekend, crushing Texas Southern 77-6 at home to move to 2-1 on the season overall. The Ragin’ Cajuns scored a ridiculous 56 points in the first half alone before giving their starters the rest of the day off. QB Levi Lewis played well, going 10/13 for 181 yards and two touchdowns. The trio of Trey Ragas, Elijah Mitchell, and TJ Wisham Jr. combined for almost 300 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground. WR Peter Leblanc had the longest reception of the game for Louisiana, finding the end zone on a 53 yard passing play. As a whole, the offense racked up almost 700 total yards and scored nine touchdowns against a hapless Tigers defense.
The Ragin’ Cajuns basically completely shut down the Texas Southern offense, limiting the Tigers to just over 200 total yards and no touchdowns. Louisiana was especially effective against the run, giving up a net total of only 72 rushing yards.
Ohio has now lost two straight games after a tough 33-31 road loss against Marshall in Week 3. The Bobcats trailed by double-digits at the half and couldn’t find a way to pull off the comeback down the stretch despite scoring seven unanswered points in the third quarter. QB Nathan Rourke certainly did his part, going 15/25 for 215 passing yards and three touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing, rumbling for 118 yards and a touchdown on just nine carries. Ryan Luehrman, De’Montre Tuggle, and Shane Hooks all made touchdown receptions but it still wasn’t enough, as Ohio still came up just short. Overall, the offense gained almost 450 yards in a losing cause.
The Bobcats defense had a rough outing in Week 3, giving up more than 500 total yards of offense and four touchdowns to the Thundering Herd. Ohio really struggled to defend against the run, allowing Marshall RB Brenden Knox to rush for 133 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 64.5
Ohio should still find a way to break their losing streak at home this weekend, but I’ve been a bit surprised with how well Louisiana has played through their first three games. The Ragin’ Cajuns offense has looked especially good, scoring at least four touchdowns in every game so far this season. Of course, their defense hasn’t been nearly as impressive, as I’m not buying how strong they looked against Texas Southern or Liberty after giving up almost 40 points to Mississippi State back in Week. Still, I like their chances of another strong showing offensively, as the Bobcats defense has certainly taken a step back this year. Even though the spread has dropped from 3.5 points to just a field goal, I think the OVER on 64.5 represents the best value in this particular matchup.

The over has also hit in five out of Louisiana’s last seven meetings with opponents from the Mid-American Conference. On the other side, the over has also come through in five consecutive games Ohio has faced a team from the Sun Belt Conference. I’m expecting this matchup to be a back and forth affair between two above average offensive teams facing below average defenses. I like Ohio to win at home but feel even better about the OVER on 64.5, so that’s my favorite play in this one.
