Panthers vs Redskins Game Odds & Betting Preview
The Redskins snapped a four game losing slide last weekend, beating Detroit 19-16 at home to improve to 2-9 on the season overall. Washington jumped out to an early 13-6 lead and managed to hold on down the stretch despite getting outscored 10-6 over the final two quarters of the game. QB Dwayne Haskins went 13/29 for 156 passing yards through the air while also adding three carries for 28 rushing yards. RB Derrius Guice led the way on the ground, rushing for just 32 yards on ten carries. Terry McLaurin also chipped in, making five catches for 72 yards. Overall, the Redskins generated just under 250 total yards and failed to find the end zone on offense in the win.
Washington was fantastic defensively against the Lions, giving up just a single touchdown despite allowing almost 400 total yards of offense. The Redskins also forced a season-high three interceptions and scored a defensive touchdown as well.
The Panthers have now lost three games in a row after falling 34-31 on the road against New Orleans last weekend. Carolina was fell behind 17-15 in the first half and couldn’t find a way to pull off a comeback after allowing the Saints offense to score two touchdowns in the third quarter. QB Kyle Allen went 23/36 for 256 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air while RB Christian McCaffrey racked up 133 all-purpose yards and found the end zone twice. D.J. Moore absolutely torched the Saints secondary, exploding for 126 receiving yards and two touchdowns on six catches. As a whole, the Panthers gained almost 400 total yards of offense and scored four touchdowns despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.
Carolina had a brutal outing on the other side of the ball against the Saints, surrendering well over 400 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. The Panthers had no answer for New Orleans WR Michael Thomas, as he hauled in 10 receptions for 101 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: Panthers -10
A case could easily be made for avoiding this all-NFC matchup altogether, as the spread looks pretty bang on for the most part. While I am somewhat tempted by the OVER on 39 total points scored, both offenses have been held to 17 points or less in two out of their last three games. The Redskins in particular have really had a hard time on the offensive side of the ball, scoring an embarrassing 78 total points over their last seven outings – barely over ten points per game. Therefore, I’m leaning towards laying the ten points and rolling with the Panthers against the spread here in Week 13. Even though it’s pretty hard to get all that excited about Kyle Allen in this matchup, Christian McCaffrey should put on a clinic on the ground against the Redskins and their 28th ranked run defense.

It is also important to note that Carolina has had the upper hand against the spread when facing Washington in recent years, covering the number in four out of their last five meetings overall. The Panthers are also a very respectable 6-3 against the spread in their last nine games as well. On the other side, the Redskins are just 3-7 against the spread over their last ten outings overall. Although avoiding this spot entirely certainly doesn’t sound like the worst idea, I’m going to lay the ten points and take a shot with the home favorite on Sunday afternoon. Give me Carolina to cover!
