Panthers vs Seahawks Game Odds & Betting Preview

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks couldn’t find a way to win their sixth consecutive game last weekend, losing 28-12 on the road against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football. Seattle gave up 14 unanswered points in the second quarter and never recovered, coming up over two touchdowns short on the scoreboard as time expired. QB Russell Wilson certainly wasn’t at his best, throwing an interception and going 22/36 for 245 passing yards. RB Chris Carson led the way on the ground, rushing for 76 yards on 15 carries. D.K. Metcalf also chipped in, making six receptions for 78 yards. As a whole, the Seahawks generated just over 350 total yards of offense but failed to find the end zone in the defeat.

Seattle didn’t play all that well defensively against the Rams, surrendering over 450 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. The Seahawks had no answer for Los Angeles TE Tyler Higbee, allowing him to rack up seven catches for 116 receiving yards.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have now lost five straight games after falling 40-20 on the road against Atlanta to drop to just 5-8 on the season overall. Carolina only trailed 13-10 at the half but completely fell apart over the final two quarters of the game, getting outscored 27-10 en route to an embarrassing divisional defeat. QB Kyle Allen continued to struggle with turnovers, throwing two interceptions while also adding 293 passing yards and a touchdown through the air. RB Christian McCaffrey racked up 135 all-purpose yards but couldn’t find a way to score a touchdown against a fairly average Falcons run defense. Ian Thomas was on the receiving end of the only passing touchdown of the game for the offense, hitting pay dirt on one of his five catches for 57 yards. Overall, the Panthers gained 393 total yards of offense and scored two touchdowns in the loss.

Carolina had a brutal outing on the other side of the ball against the Falcons, giving up well over 450 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. The Panthers couldn’t find a way to slow down Devonta Freeman and Brian Hill on the ground, as the duo combined for 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: Seahawks -6

I’m leaning towards laying the six points and rolling with Seattle on the road here in Week 15, as they have certainly been the much more consistent team on both sides of the ball so far this season. They also really need to bounce back after a tough divisional loss last weekend, as their lead in the NFC West continues to shrink after back to back solid outings by the Los Angeles Rams. Carolina has also really struggled at home so far this season, failing to cover the number in four out of their first six games at Bank of America Stadium. The Panthers have had a rough go of things since the beginning of November as well, going a brutal 1-4 against the spread over their last five games overall.

The Seahawks have also had the upper hand in this NFC rivalry over the past couple of years, covering the number in two out of their last three meetings with Carolina. Seattle came away with a victory during their last trip to Charlotte, winning by a field goal despite being a three point underdog prior to kickoff. Finally, the Seahawks are also a rock-solid 4-1 against the spread over their last five battles against an NFC opponent. On the other side, the Panthers are an embarrassing 1-5 against the spread in their last six conference games. I’m happy to lay the six points and take a shot with the road favorite on Sunday afternoon – give me Seattle to cover!
