Patriots vs Chiefs Game Odds & Betting Preview
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs won their second game in a row last weekend, crushing Oakland 40-9 at home to improve to 8-4 on the season overall. Kansas City jumped out to an early 21-0 lead and never looked back, cruising to an easy double-digit victory over the final two quarters of the game. QB Patrick Mahomes went 15/29 for 175 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while also adding 25 yards and a rushing touchdown as well. Darwin Thompson and LeSean McCoy also found the end zone on the ground despite combining for only 54 yards. TE Travis Kelce led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in five catches for 90 yards. Overall, the Chiefs generated close to 300 total yards of offense in some less than ideal weather conditions at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kansas City was very strong defensively against the Raiders, surrendering just over 300 total yards of offense and only a single touchdown. The Chiefs did struggle a little bit trying to contain Oakland RB Josh Jacobs, allowing him to rumble for over six yards per carry on the ground.
New England Patriots
The Patriots couldn’t find a way to get past Houston on Sunday Night Football last weekend, falling 28-22 to drop to 10-2 on the season overall. New England fell behind 14-3 in the first half and couldn’t find a way to pull off the comeback despite outscoring the Texans 19-14 over the final two quarters of the game. QB Tom Brady went 24/47 for 326 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air while RB James White led the way on the ground with 79 rushing yards on 14 carries. White also chipped in through the air, making eight catches for 98 yards and finding the end zone twice. As a whole, the Patriots gained close to 500 total yards of offense and scored three touchdowns despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.
New England didn’t have a great outing on the other side of the ball against the Texans, giving up close to 300 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. The Patriots couldn’t find a way to slow down Houston RB Duke Johnson, as he recorded 90 all-purpose yards and scored a touchdown.
Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: UNDER 49
As tempted as I am by the field goal and the road underdog, the optimal play in this AFC clash appears to be the UNDER on 49 total points. New England has been the most consistent team defensively in the entire NFL this season, as their only bad outing came against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens back in Week 9. However, their offense has really been underwhelming over the past month, averaging well under 20 points per game. On the other side, the Chiefs are still capable of putting up points in a hurry – especially with Mahomes appearing to be fully recovered from a dislocated kneecap. However, they certainly haven’t been nearly as explosive on offense against solid defenses, getting held to 26 points or less three times over their last five games.

Kansas City has had the upper hand against the spread over the last couple of battles between these AFC rivals, covering the number in two out of their last three meetings with the Pats. They are also a very respectable 4-2 against the spread over their last six games overall as well. In terms of the total, the UNDER has come through in four out of Kansas City’s last six games against AFC opponents. On the other side, the UNDER has also hit in nine out of New England’s last 13 games overall and in two out of their last three conference games at Gillette Stadium. I’ll likely still take a shot with the Chiefs against the spread but will definitely be on the UNDER 49 total points scored in what should be one of the most entertaining games on the schedule here in Week 14.
