The Boston College Eagles (5-6) travel to Pennsylvania this weekend for an all-ACC clash with the Pittsburgh Panthers (7-4). Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST on November 30th at Heinz Field and the game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
Taking a look at the Week 14 college football odds, Pitt opened as a 9.5-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Panthers are currently available at -9.5. The total for the game is sitting at 51.5 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Pitt vs Boston College
Boston College lost their second consecutive game last weekend after getting crushed 40-7 on the road against #15 overall Notre Dame. The Eagles trailed 16-7 at the half but completely fell apart down the stretch, getting outscored 24-0 over the final two quarters of the game. QB Dennis Grosel certainly wasn’t at his best through the air, throwing an interception and going just 9/20 for 63 passing yards. However, he did manage to find the end zone on the ground on one of his 13 carries for 45 rushing yards. Kobay White led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in three catches for 29 yards. Overall, Boston College gained under 200 total yards of offense and scored just a single touchdown in the blowout loss.
The Eagles didn’t have a great outing on the other side of the ball against Notre Dame, surrendering close to 500 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. Boston College had no answer for Fighting Irish QB Ian Book, as he completed 65% of his passes and recorded three passing touchdowns.
Pitt saw their modest two game winning streak come to an end last weekend, falling 28-0 on the road against #23 overall Virginia Tech. The Panthers gave up 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and never recovered, getting completely shut out on offense en route to their fourth loss of the season. QB Kenny Pickett went just 10/26 for 103 passing yards through the air against a rock-solid Hokies secondary. V’Lique Carter led the way on the ground despite rushing for just 33 yards. Jared Wayne also chipped in, making four receptions for 68 yards. As a whole, Pitt generated under 200 total yards of offense and failed to register any points.
The Panthers didn’t play all that well defensively against Virginia Tech, giving up around 300 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. However, Pitt was pretty strong defending against the pass, holding the Hokies to 153 yards through the air.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Boston College +9.5
I think that I would much rather take a shot with the points and roll with the road underdog in this ACC showdown, as Pitt has been involved in plenty of tightly-contested battles through their first eleven games. In fact, the Panthers have failed to win a game by more than ten points so far this season, which certainly bodes well for Boston College against the spread on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles also knocked off Virginia Tech back in Week 1, the same school that just crushed the Panthers 28-0 last weekend. Pitt only beat Syracuse by a touchdown in mid-October, another team that Boston College handled with ease.

The Panthers haven’t performed well at home against the spread in conference games this year, failing to cover the number in two out of their last three ACC showdowns at Heinz Field. It is also important to note that these two rivals were involved in a close, low-scoring battle in their last meeting in Pittsburgh, as the Eagles lost 20-17 but easily covered an 8.5 point spread. I’m going to take a shot with the road underdog here in Week 14, as I think that Boston College will find a way to keep this game interesting down the stretch. Give me the Eagles to cover!
