While the regular season is over four months away, football will be center stage later this month. This year’s draft starts on Thursday, April 27th with the first round. Followed by rounds 2-3 on Friday and rounds 4-7 on Saturday.

The draft will take place at the Philadelphia Museum of Art . Something that always interesting to look at is who will be attending.

Look Back at Recent Invitees & Where They Were Drafted

Two years ago neither of the top two selections were in attendance. Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota both chose to stay home with friends and family.

More times than not the guys expected to go early show up. Last year each of the top six selections were in attendance. Only two of the Top 10 selections didn’t make the trip.

There were 25 college starts that attended last year. Only 19 of them were taken in the first round. The last to be selected was Alabama’s Jarran Reed, who went 18th in the 2nd round (49th overall).

How Many Players Attend: 22

There are 22 players (full list below) that have been invited and willing to attend. The Cleveland Browns have the No. 1 overall pick. While quarterback is in play, most believe they will take Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett. Just so happens he’s not going to be in town.

Two guys that will get a lot of attention are the two quarterbacks. Clemson’s DeShaun Watson and UNC’s Mitch Trubisky. Both could go as early as No. 1 overall and at the same time fall back into the mid to late 20’s.

Keep in mind that getting invited doesn’t guarantee a player will be taken in the 1st round. In fact, there will likely be a number who will have to wait until Friday to hear their name called.
