Raiders vs Redskins Vegas Betting Line & Game Preview
After a 12-4 record a year ago, the Raiders are off to another great start, winning their first two games. Oakland survived a tough road game in Week 1, winning at Tennessee 26-16. The Raiders followed that up with a convincing win over the lowly Jets last week, cruising to a 45-20 win.
Playing the Jets last week has skewed the stats a little, but Oakland’s offense is off to a fast start this season nonetheless. Derek Carr is already earning his new big-money contract by completing 75% of his passes and tossing five touchdown passes through two games. Both Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper have looked dangerous, with tight end Jared Cook providing a third option in the passing game. The addition of Marshawn Lynch to the backfield has also paid early dividends for the Raiders.
The Redskins, meanwhile, enter Sunday’s game at 1-1. Turnovers plagued Washington in Week 1, including an interception and two fumbles by quarterback Kirk Cousins. But the Redskins were able to bounce back last week, going out to Los Angeles and beating the Rams on the road, so all hope is not lost.
However, there should be some concern about Cousins. After losing two fumbles in Week 1, he coughed up two more fumbles last week that the Redskins were able to get back. Against the Rams, Washington’s running game came up big, as the duo of Samaje Perine and Rob Kelley picked up the slack. But the Redskins need more out of Cousins moving forward.

It’s tough to pick a west coast team playing on the east coast with points to cover, but I just don’t have faith in the Redskins right now. Washington isn’t a bad team, but they haven’t played good football early in the year, so I’m going to swallow the points and lean toward the Raiders.
Cousins has not been as sharp early in the season. Part of the problem is he’s been sacked six times, but ball security is his responsibility, and he’s been too fumble-prone this year. There also has to be some concern about Washington’s health heading into Week 3. Kelley has been limited in practice this week and Jordan Reed will be a game-time decision. Those two are arguably Washington’s most important offensive players outside of Cousins, and the Redskins can’t afford to be without them against Oakland.

To be fair, many of Oakland’s impressive stats are a result of blowing out the Jets last week. But only a little because the Raiders are a good team. They have a balanced offense that will challenge Washington’s defense, a unit that has failed to impress early in the season. Being at home in primetime should help the Redskins a little, but the Raiders will be tough to keep under wraps for four quarters.
Typically, you would bet against a road favorite when they’re a west coast team traveling east, but this game is an exception. I just haven’t seen enough from Washington this season that makes me think they can beat the Raiders, regardless of the venue. This may not be a walk in the park for Oakland, but the better team will prevail and the Raiders will be able to cover.
