Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Rams vs Bears

The Rams returned from their bye week with a 30-16 win and cover as a 10-point road favorite at Detroit. It was a fortunate cover for those who backed LA, as they didn’t lead the entire way by more than the number until scoring a TD in the final minutes of regulation. It was a big win for the Rams, as they retook the No. 1 seed from the Saints with their upset loss at Dallas on Thursday Night Football.

Chicago comes into this one off a 30-27 overtime loss at New York as a 3-point road favorite. The Bears put themselves behind the 8-ball right out of the gate. Backup quarterback Chase Daniel threw a pick six on the second play from scrimmage. The only other points the Giants managed in the 1st half were a 57-yard field goal in the final play before intermission. After getting outscored 14-0 in the 3rd quarter, Chicago turned a 24-14 deficit into a 27-27 tie with a thrilling comeback in the final minutes, only to fail to finish things off in extra time.

Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: OVER 52

I just don’t see a ton of value with the spread here, but I would probably take Chicago if I had to play a side. With that said, I have to think the public will be heavy on LA, so there’s a decent chance you will get 3.5 and maybe 4 if you wait to play. For me, I think the strongest wager in this game is the OVER 52.

First things first with a midwest game in December, you have to check the forecast before playing the total. It’s going to be cold, but nothing these players can’t candle. Most importantly there’s no perception or strong winds expected. I think Mother Nature is the only thing that could keep these two teams from eclipsing this number.

I get the Bears have one of the best defenses in the NFL. There’s no denying that. I just think the Rams offense is simply too good for any defense to stop. They were average at best last week at Detroit and still managed to put 30 points up on the scoreboard. I think it’s also important to note that Tom Brady and the Patriots came into Soldier Field and put up 38 points. LA’s offense is better than New England’s right now.

The other big key here is I still think this Chicago offense is flying under the radar. Even with starting quarterback Mitch Trubisky out the past two games, they still managed 25 ppg and both of those were on the road. Trubisky and the Bears offense was really in a groove before he went down and we know this LA defense can be exposed.

Another factor here that I think favors the OVER is that while both defenses figure to give up plenty of points, both teams have a lot of playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. I think there’s going to be multiple turnovers and wouldn’t be shocked at all if both teams scored defensive touchdowns in this game.

I get 52 seems like a lot, but all we need is for a 30-23 final to cash a winning ticket. I actually think they score more than that and this thing ends up closer to 65. Give me the OVER 52!
