Oddsmakers aren’t expecting a very entertaining affair, as the Ravens are anywhere from -14 to -15 depending on where you shop. They also aren’t calling for a lot of scoring, as the total currently sits at 44.5.

Ravens vs Jets Vegas Betting Preview

New York Jets (5-8 SU, 5-8 ATS)

The Jets come into this one off a thrilling 22-21 win at home over division rival Miami. New York led by as many as 10-points in the 1st half, but had to rally twice in the 4th quarter to take down the Dolphins, ultimately winning the game on a 44-yard field goal as time expired.

The Jets defense only forced Miami to punt once all game, but were able to get off the field when it mattered the most. All seven of the Dolphins scoring drives resulted in field goals. It continued an upward swing for New York, as they have now won 4 of their last 5.

Unfortunately for them their 1-6 start was too much to overcome. While the Jets are mathematically still alive for a Wild Card spot, they got next to no shot even if they were to win out.

Baltimore Ravens (11-2 SU, 7-5 ATS)

The Ravens extended their winning streak to 7 games with a hard fought 24-17 win at Buffalo, which saw them just barely cover as a 6.5-point favorite. With that win Baltimore clinched a playoff spot, but still need one more win or Steelers loss to secure the AFC North.

Winning their division is priority number one, but the Ravens have their eyes set on much more. With the Chiefs win at New England this past Sunday, Baltimore is now 1-game ahead of the Pats for the No. 1 seed in the AFC and they own the tie-breaker over New England with their head-to-head win.

All the Ravens have to do is win two of their final three games to secure home field advantage in the AFC Championship Game.

Matchup History

Not a lot to go off in terms of recent meetings, as these two last played in 2016. The Jets won that contest 24-16 as a 2.5-point home favorite. Baltimore had won and covered each of the previous three contests.

Free Pick & Spread Predictions: OVER 44.5

My early lean here would be to take the OVER 44.5. As much as I want to take the points with New York, I just don’t trust this team in this spot. Jets are just 1-5 away from home, where they are getting outscored by 10.3 ppg. I also think it’s really hard for bad teams to get motivated on just 3-days of rest, especially on the road against an elite team.

I get the defensive numbers have been decent for New York this season, but look at who they have played. Outside of their division opponents, they have played the Browns, Eagles, Cowboys, Jags, Giants, Redskins, Raiders and Bengals.

This is by far the best offensive they have faced. I know Lamar Jackson is nursing a quad injury, but he’s fully expected to play and I can’t imagine the Ravens sending him out there if they don’t feel he’s at or near 100%. I just don’t think the Jets will be able to slow this offense down and with Sam Darnold on the other side, I wouldn’t be shocked if Baltimore’s defense didn’t find the endzone in this one.

While Darnold could make some costly mistakes, he’s also very capable of guiding this Jets offense up and down the field. Much like New York’s defense will struggle to play well on just 3-days of rest, the same can be said for Baltimore. Not to mention this has the feel of a big flat spot for that Ravens defense, as they have really put it all on the line the last four weeks against the Texans, Rams, 49ers and Bills. Give me the OVER 44.5.
