Ravens vs Steelers Game Odds & Betting Preview

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have now lost back to back games after falling 16-10 on the road against the New York Jets last weekend to drop to 8-7 on the season overall. Pittsburgh gave up an early touchdown but rallied back in the second quarter before allowing six unanswered points down the stretch that proved to be the difference. QB Devlin Hodges was terrible, throwing two interceptions and going just 11/17 for 84 yards before getting benched in favor of Mason Rudolph. James Conner only managed to rush for 32 yards on the ground while Diontae Johnson led the way for the receiving corps with eight catches for 81 yards and a touchdown. As a whole, the Steelers generated well over 250 total yards of offense but found the end zone just once in the defeat.

Pittsburgh played well defensively against the Jets, giving up under 300 total yards of offense and just a single touchdown. The Steelers were especially impressive defending against the run, allowing only 85 rushing yards on the ground.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens won their 11th consecutive game last weekend, beating Cleveland 31-15 on the road to improve to 13-2 on the season overall. Baltimore led 14-6 at the half before really turning it on over the final two quarters, outscoring the Browns 17-9. QB Lamar Jackson went 20/31 for 238 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air while also adding 103 rushing yards on a team-high 17 carries. TE Mark Andrews led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in six catches for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Overall, the Ravens gained almost 500 total yards of offense and scored four touchdowns in the victory.

Baltimore had a strong outing on the other side of the ball against the Browns, surrendering 249 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. The Ravens completely shut down Cleveland on the ground, yielding just 57 net rushing  yards the entire game.

Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: UNDER 37.5

A case could easily be made for avoiding this AFC North showdown altogether, as the Ravens have nothing to play for and will likely rest most of their starters for at least the second half. Lamar Jackson will also be watching from the sidelines in Week 17, as Robert Griffin III has already been announced as the starting quarterback. With Pittsburgh needing to win in order to keep their slim playoff chances alive, it’s hard not to lean slightly towards laying the two points and taking the road favorite to cover the number in this matchup. Even so, the horrific play at quarterback by Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges make me feel much more comfortable with the UNDER on 37.5 total points in what should turn out to be a low-scoring battle.

It is important to note that these two AFC North rivals have been involved in plenty of low scoring battles in recent years, as the total has now gone UNDER in six out of their last nine meetings. The UNDER has also come through in the last seven games that Pittsburgh has played overall as well. On the other side, the UNDER has hit in five straight outings that Baltimore has faced the Steelers at M&T Bank Stadium and in four out of their last six outings overall. I’m going to avoid guessing against a tough spread in favor of the UNDER on 37.5 total points scored.
