Redskins vs Jets Game Odds & Betting Preview

New York Jets

The Jets snapped a three game losing streak last weekend, beating the New York Giants 34-27 at MetLife Stadium to improve to 2-7 on the season overall. Darnold and Co. scored 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and managed to hold on for the victory despite getting outscored 27-10 the rest of the way. QB Sam Darnold went 19/30 for 230 passing yards and a touchdown while also avoiding any costly interceptions as well. RB Le’Veon Bell continued to struggle on the ground, rushing for just 34 yards on 18 carries. Jamison Crowder and Demaryius Thomas led the way for the receiving corps, combining for 165 yards and a touchdown. Overall, the Jets gained over 300 total yards and found the end zone three times on offense in the victory.

New York was average at best defensively against the Giants, surrendering 331 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. The Jets had no answer for WR Darius Slayton, as he torched the secondary for 121 yards and two touchdowns on a game-high ten catches.

Washington Redskins

The Redskins have now lost eight out of their first nine games after falling 24-9 on the road against Buffalo a couple of weeks ago. Washington trailed 17-6 at the half and never recovered, scoring just a single field goal over the final two quarters of the game. QB Dwayne Haskins went 15/22 for 144 passing yards through the air while veteran RB Adrian Peterson rushed for 108 yards on 18 carries. Paul Richardson also chipped in, hauling in four receptions for 42 yards. As a whole, the Redskins generated well over 250 yards of offense but failed to score a touchdown against a tough Buffalo defense.

Washington had a mediocre outing on the other side of the ball in Week 9, giving up almost 300 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. The Redskins got torched on the ground by Bills RB Devin Singletary, as he racked up 140 all-purpose yards and also scored a touchdown.

Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: Jets +2.5

I’m leaning towards taking the 2.5 points and rolling with the road underdog in this particular spot, as I think that the Jets could easily win this game outright. Not only do they currently have the better record overall, they also finally appeared to show some positive signs on offense last weekend in a much-needed victory. If Darnold can continue to avoid turnover trouble against a below average Redskins defense, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they find a way to put together their first winning streak of the season. Washington has also been brutal against the spread through their first nine games, especially at home where they have only covered the number once in their last four outings at FedEx Field.

It is also important to note that New York has absolutely owned the Redskins against the spread over their last couple of meetings, going a perfect 3-0 ATS. The Jets have also outscored Washington by almost nine points per game over that time span, which certainly bodes well for them on Sunday afternoon. On the other side, the Redskins are a brutal 1-12-1 against the spread over their last 14 battles with opponents from the AFC East. As long as Le’Veon Bell is able to suit up in what looks to be a juicy matchup against a bad Washington run defense, I’m going to take a shot with the road underdog in a game they have a decent chance of winning straight up. Give me the Jets!
