The Tennessee Titans (8-6) are set to host the Washington Redskins (7-7) in the first of two games that will be played on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4:30 EST at Nissan Stadium and will be televised on the NFL Network.
Taking a look at the Week 16 NFL odds, the books have the Titans listed as a 10-point home favorite with the total set for 37 points.
Vegas Betting Odds & Game Preview: Redskins vs Titans
Washington did something not many expected and that’s go on the road in Week 15 and beat the Jaguars. The Redskins rallied from a 7-point 4th quarter deficit to defeat Jacksonville 16-13 as a 7.5-point underdog. The win snapped a 4-game losing streak and kept Washington’s slim playoff hopes alive. While the Redskins are just 1-game back of Dallas in the NFC East, the Cowboys will win the tie-breaker with a better division record (teams split head-to-head). That means they need to win out and have Dallas lose their final two games to have a shot. They are also still alive for a Wild Card spot.
Tennessee enters off an impressive 17-0 win at the Giants, as they completely dominated a New York team that had been playing much better of late. That’s 3 straight wins for the Titans, but like the Redskins, they are going to need some help to make the playoffs. Tennessee is 2-games back of Houston for the AFC South title, but even if they win out and the Texans lose their last two, Houston would win the tie-breaker with a better record in conference play. That means it’s Wild Card or bust for the Titans. They are currently tied for the last Wild Card spot with the Colts (host Indy in Week 17) and Ravens. Baltimore is in the driver’s seat, but they play at the Chargers later Saturday night.
Free NFL Pick & Betting Predictions: Titans -10
My early lean here would be to lay the points with the Titans. Tennessee is not a public team and the betting public is all over the Redskins here, which is definitely a big reason why I’m leaning the other way. I just think the books are begging you take the points with Washington, who is still alive in the playoff hunt and just won outright as a 7.5-point dog last week at Jacksonville.

The biggest thing you have to keep in mind with Washington’s win over the Jaguars, is that Jacksonville is a dumpster fire right now, as that team wants nothing to do with playing out the season. The problem is the Redskins almost lost to the Jags with Jacksonville only gaining 192 yards of total offense.
I personally would want nothing to do with this Washington team with all the injuries they are dealing with. I mean Josh Johnson is their starting quarterback. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Redskins didn’t score in double-figures in this game. Tennessee has allowed a mere 9 points in their last two games combined.
They have been outstanding against the run in these two games. They held Leonard Fornette to a mere 36 yards on 14 attempts (2.6 yards/carry) in Week 14 and then last week held Saquon Barkely to 31 yards on 14 attempts (2.2 yards/carry). With how little they have to respect the passing game with Johnson under center, I see no reason to not expect more of the same.
On the flip side of this, there’s not a hotter running back in the NFL right now than Derrick Henry. Most will recall Henry’s 238 yards and 4 scores on Thursday Night Football two weeks ago, but he followed that up with another 170 yards and 2 scores last week against the Giants. He’ll now face a Redskins defense that gave up 172 yards and 6.6 yards/carry to the Jaguars last week, which is pretty remarkable given they didn’t have to respect the pass. Jacksonville’s Cody Kessler finished the game 9 of 17 for 57 yards and was sacked 6 times.
Given how the public is coming in on the Redskins, I would maybe wait to see if you can’t get this down to single-digits. This would also be an ideal play for a 10-point teaser. Give me Washington -10.
