Saints vs Cardinals Game Odds & Betting Preview
The Cardinals won their third straight game last weekend, beating the New York Giants 27-21 on the road to move to 3-3-1 on the season overall. Arizona came out flying, scoring 14 unanswered points in the first quarter before cooling off a bit over the final 45 minutes of the game. QB Kyler Murray went 14/21 for 104 passing yards while backup RB Chase Edmonds exploded for 126 yards and three touchdowns on the ground after David Johnson left the game after just one play. Pharaoh Cooper led the way for the receiving corps, making four catches for 29 yards. Overall, Arizona gained over 250 total yards of offense and scored three touchdowns in the victory.
Arizona was fairly solid defensively against the Giants, giving up just over 300 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. The Cardinals defense did a fantastic job shutting down New York TE Evan Engram, holding him to only one reception for six yards.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints reeled off their fifth consecutive victory last weekend, beating Chicago 36-25 on the road to move to 6-1 on the season overall. New Orleans outscored the Bears 24-15 in the second half en route to a very impressive double-digit win. QB Teddy Bridgewater continued to shine, going 23/38 for 281 passing yards and two touchdowns while RB Latavius Murray rumbled for 119 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Michael Thomas led the way for the receiving corps, making nine catches for 131 yards. As a whole, the Saints generated well over 400 total yards of offense and scored four touchdowns against shell-shocked Bears defense.
New Orleans had an average outing on the other side of the ball in Week 7, giving up almost 300 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. However, the Saints did a great job shutting down Chicago on the ground, as the Bears only managed to rush for 17 net rushing yards all game.
Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: OVER 48
It was just announced that Drew Brees would be back under center for the Saints here in Week 9, which certainly takes a lot of the value on the New Orleans side away after the spread jumped up by two full points. While Brees returning to the lineup after missing multiple games due to thumb surgery will certainly give New Orleans a boost, markets have immediately reacted and pushed the Saints to almost two touchdown favorites. Therefore, I actually think the best overall play in this matchup is now the OVER on 48 total points scored, as both offenses should find a decent amount of success in a game that could easily turn into a shootout.

It is also important to note that the total has gone OVER in six out of the last seven meetings between these two NFC opponents. The OVER has also come through in four out of Arizona’s last six games against NFC teams and in seven consecutive matchups against NFC South teams as well. On the other side, the total has gone OVER in four out of the last six games New Orleans has entered as a favorite. I’ll avoid both teams against the spread here in Week 8 in favor of the OVER on 48 points in what should be a fast-paced, entertaining battle.
