The Wyoming Cowboys (4-1) head to California this weekend for a Mountain West battle against the San Diego State Aztecs (4-1). Kickoff is set for 10:30 PM EST on Saturday, October 12th at SDCCU Stadium and the game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.

Taking a look at the Week 7 college football odds, Wyoming opened as a 4.5-point road underdog earlier this week. That spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Cowboys are currently listed at +4.5. The total for the game is sitting at 40 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: San Diego State vs Wyoming

Wyoming has now won four out of their first five games after an impressive 53-17 home victory over UNLV their last time out. The Cowboys trailed 10-7 at the end of the first quarter but took complete control of the game from that point onward, outscoring the Rebels 46-7 over the final three quarters. QB Sean Chambers was 5/12 for 124 yards and two touchdowns through the air while also adding 12 carries for 102 yards and two scores on the ground. RB Titus Swen also had a great game, finding the end zone once and racking up 136 rushing yards on a team-high 14 carries. WR Josh Harshman led the way for the receiving corps despite making just one catch all game, connecting with Chambers on a 56 yard touchdown strike. As a whole, Wyoming gained almost 500 total yards of offense and scored seven touchdowns in a blowout win.

The Cowboys defense had a successful outing against UNLV, giving up just over 300 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. Wyoming really did a great job putting pressure on the Rebels offense, as they forced several turnovers including three critical interceptions.

San Diego State improved to 4-1 on the season last weekend, beating Colorado State 24-10 on the road. The Aztecs held a seven point lead at the half and never looked back, outscoring the Rams 14-7 over the final two quarters. QB Ryan Agnew was 16/20 for 147 yards and three touchdowns while RB Juwan Washington rushed for 85 yards on a team-high 22 carries. WR Kobe Smith was clearly the star of the game on offense, hauling in seven receptions for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Overall, San Diego State almost 250 total yards and scored three touchdowns in their double-digit victory.

The Aztecs looked quite strong on the other side of the ball against Colorado State, holding the Rams to under 250 total yards and allowing just a single touchdown. San Diego State was especially strong defending against the run, allowing only 18 net rushing yards all game.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Wyoming +4.5

I think that the Cowboys currently over the best value in this particular matchup, as they could easily win outright on Saturday evening. Even if they aren’t able to grind out a victory, I am fully expecting these two Mountain West opponents to play a close, tightly-contested game. If this spread moves down closer to three points prior to kickoff, I would probably take the OVER on 38.5 total points scored, as anything lower than +4 on the Wyoming side doesn’t offer a ton of value. However, as of right now, I think taking the 4.5 points in this spot is the optimal play. The Cowboys have only lost once so far this year and San Diego State is a horrendous 0-7 against the spread in their last seven home games.

The Aztecs are also only 1-4 straight up in their last five meetings with a Mountain West opponent and just 4-9 against the spread over their last 13 games overall. On the other side, Wyoming is a rock-solid 6-1 ATS in their last seven outings overall. They are also a perfect 5-0 straight up over their last five games against conference opponents. Ultimately, this should be a highly entertaining matchup that comes right down to the wire. I’ll take the extra points and roll with the road underdog to cover or possibly even win outright. Give me Wyoming!
