The #21 overall Boise State Broncos (6-1) head to the Bay Area this weekend for a Mountain West Conference clash with the San Jose State Spartans (4-4). Kickoff is set for 10:30 PM EST on November 2nd at CEFCU Stadium and the game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.

Taking a look at the Week 10 college football odds, Boise State opened as a 16.5-point road favorite earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Broncos are currently available at -16.5. The total for the game is sitting at 59.5 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: San Jose State vs Boise State

Boise State lost their first game of the season in Week 8, falling 28-25 on the road against BYU to drop to 6-1 on the year overall. The Broncos held a 10-7 lead at the half but completely self-destructed in the third quarter, surrendering 21 unanswered points. QB Chase Cord had an up and down game, going 18/30 for 185 passing yards and two touchdowns but also getting picked off twice. RB George Holani led the way on the ground, rushing for 97 yards on a team-high 20 carries. WR Octavius Evans also chipped in, hauling in five catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. Overall, Boise State generated over 350 total yards of offense and scored three touchdowns despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.

The Broncos had a below average outing on the other side of the ball against BYU, giving up just under 350 yards of total offense and four touchdowns. Boise State really struggled to slow down Cougars WR Matt Bushman, as he torched the secondary for 101 yards and two touchdowns on just five receptions.

San Jose State snapped a two game losing slide last weekend, upsetting Army 34-29 on the road to get back to .500 on the season overall. The Spartans were almost double-digit underdogs heading into the came but really came flying out of the gate on offense, scoring 23 points in the first half alone. QB Josh Love was fantastic, going 20/31 for 314 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air. RB DeJon Packer averaged 7.0 yards per carry on the ground while Isaiah Hamilton, Bailey Gaither, and Kairee Robinson all found the end zone through the air. As a whole, San Jose State gained well over 400 total yards of offense and scored three touchdowns in the victory.

The Spartans weren’t that great defensively against Army, giving up almost 400 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. San Jose State had no answer for the Black Knights rushing attack, surrendering over 300 yards and three touchdowns on the ground despite coming away with the win.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 59.5

I’m really not seeing a ton of value on either side of this spread, as the number looks pretty efficient to me overall. While Boise State clearly deserves to be favored, I’m a bit wary of laying almost 17 points on the road against a Spartans squad that is 4-1-1 against the spread over their last six games overall. However, I do think that the OVER on 59.5 total points scored is a pretty decent play, as both of these offenses should be able to find a decent amount of success on Saturday evening. San Jose State has certainly been firing on all cylinders as of late, scoring at least 32 points in three out of their last four games. While the Broncos offense struggled a little bit against a solid BYU defense their last time out, they had racked up 172 total points in their last four outings combined prior to Week 8.

It is also important to note that these two Mountain West Conference rivals have combined for some high-scoring outings in recent years, as the total has gone OVER in two out of the last three meetings between San Jose State and Boise State. I’m going to avoid throwing darts against a very accurate spread in favor of the OVER on 59.5 total points scored in what should be a fast-paced, entertaining matchup.
