The Temple Owls (5-3) travel to Tampa Bay this Thursday for an American Athletic Conference showdown with the South Florida Bulls (4-4). Kickoff is set for 9:00 PM EST on November 7th at Raymond James Stadium and the game will be televised on ESPN.
Taking a look at the Week 11 college football odds, South Florida opened as a 2-point home underdog earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Bulls are currently available at +2. The total for the game is sitting at 51 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: South Florida vs Temple
Temple lost their second consecutive game back in Week 9, getting crushed 63-21 at home by UCF to drop to 5-3 on the season overall. The Owls trailed 28-21 at the half but completely unraveled over the final two quarters of the game, allowing 35 unanswered points en route to an embarrassing defeat. QB Anthony Russo went 12/24 for 199 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air but also got picked off twice. RB Jager Gardner found the end zone on the ground despite rushing for only 13 yards on 11 carries. WR Branden Mack played well, hauling in a team-high five catches for 104 yards and a touchdown. As a whole, Temple gained just over 250 total yards of offense and scored three touchdowns despite coming up well short on the scoreboard.
The Owls obviously had a rough outing on the other side of the ball against UCF, giving up over 600 total yards of offense and nine touchdowns. Temple had no answer for the Knights rushing attack, as the duo of Otis Anderson and Bentavious Thompson racked up 292 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
South Florida has won three out of their last four games after beating ECU 45-20 on the road their last time out to get back to .500 on the season overall. The Bulls outscored East Carolina 35-10 in the first half and never looked back, cruising to a double-digit victory over the final 30 minutes of the game. QB Jordan McCloud went 9/12 for 102 yards and two touchdowns through the air while also rushing for 49 yards on four carries on the ground. Jordan Cronkrite was a beast out of the backfield, rumbling for 129 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. Randall St. Felix also got in on the scoring parade, finding the end zone on one of his team-high five receptions for 79 yards. Overall, South Florida generated well over 500 total yards of offense and scored six touchdowns against a shell-shocked Pirates defense.
The Bulls were fairly defensively against East Carolina, surrendering just a single offensive touchdown despite giving up over 300 total yards. South Florida was especially tough against the run, as no Pirates running back managed to rush for more than 50 yards on the ground.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Temple -2
I’m certainly not seeing a ton of value on either side of this American Athletic Conference clash on Thursday evening, as there really doesn’t seem to be a lot separating these two rivals. However, I am leaning slightly towards the Owls despite the fact they are on the road here in Week 11, as they managed to knock off #19 overall Memphis back in Week 7. While South Florida has played pretty well at home through the first ten weeks of the season, they are only 2-7 straight up over their last nine meetings with American Athletic Conference opponents.

Temple is a very respectable 11-5 straight up over their last 16 games overall. The Owls have also really fared well against the spread when playing on the road as of late, covering the number in 14 out of their last 20 games away from Lincoln Financial Field. Finally, Temple is also a rock-solid 10-3 outright in their last 13 conference matchups. On the other side, the Bulls are only 4-10 over their last 14 games overall. As long as this spread doesn’t climb any high before kickoff, I’ll take my chances with the slight road favorite in this spot – give me the Owls to cover the number and snap their two game losing skid in what should be an entertaining battle.
