The Wake Forest Demon Deacons (8-3) head to New York this weekend for an ACC Atlantic clash with the Syracuse Orange (4-7). Kickoff is set for 12:30 PM EST on November 30th at the Carrier Dome and the game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
Taking a look at the Week 14 college football odds, Syracuse opened as a 4.5-point home underdog earlier this week. The spread has come down by a full point after early betting, as the Orange are currently available at +3.5. The total for the game is sitting at 68.5 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Syracuse vs Wake Forest
Wake Forest snapped a two game losing streak last weekend after beating Duke 39-27 at home to improve to 8-3 on the season overall. The Demon Deacons outscored the Blue Devils 26-17 in the second half en route to a double-digit victory. QB Jamie Newman went 14/25 for 284 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while also adding 144 rushing yards and a score on a team-high 29 carries. RB Kenneth Walker was a beast on the ground as well, racking up 113 rushing yards and a touchdown. Kendall Hinton ran circles around the Blue Devils secondary, finding the end zone on one of his six catches for a game-high 189 receiving yards. As a whole, Wake Forest gained over 600 total yards and scored four touchdowns on offense in the win.
The Demon Deacons had a decent outing on the other side of the ball against Duke, giving up only a single touchdown despite allowing over 300 total yards of offense. Wake Forest did struggle to slow down Noah Gray at times, as he made seven receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Syracuse came up short against Louisville on the road last weekend, falling 56-34 to drop to 4-7 on the season overall. The Orange gave up three touchdowns in the first quarter and never recovered, giving up five more scores and coming up more than 20 points short on the scoreboard as time expired. QB Tommy Devito went 14/21 for 153 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air while RB Moe Neal exploded for 163 rushing yards and a touchdown on a team-high 20 carries. Jawhar Jordan led the way for the receiving corps, making two catches for 87 yards. Overall, Syracuse generated over 500 total yards of offense and found the end zone four times in the loss.
The Orange were brutal defensively against Louisville, surrendering over 600 total yards of offense and eight touchdowns. Syracuse had no answer for Cardinals QB Malik Cunningham, as he threw for 238 passing yards and five touchdowns through the air while also adding eight carries for 60 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Wake Forest -3.5
The Demon Deacons appear to offer pretty decent value in this ACC Atlantic showdown, as they have certainly been the more consistent team on both sides of the ball so far this season. While I would have probably avoided this matchup altogether when the spread opened at 4.5, I’m more than happy to lay just 3.5 points and take a shot with the road favorite. Syracuse has been terrible against the spread through their first eleven games, going just 3-8 ATS overall. They also have really struggled at the Carrier Dome, failing to cover the number in three out of their last four outings at home.

It is also important to note that Wake Forest has had the upper hand in this ACC Atlantic rivalry as of late, going 2-1 against the spread over their last three meetings with the Orange overall. They really put on a show in their last visit to the Carrier Dome in 2017, torching the Syracuse defense for 64 total points and winning by three touchdowns despite being just a 2.5 point favorite prior to kickoff. On the other side, the Orange are just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven conference games. Give me the Demon Deacons to cover!
