The West Virginia Mountaineers (4-7) travel to Fort Worth, Texas on Friday for a BIG 12 battle with the TCU Horned Frogs (5-6). Kickoff is set for 4:15 PM EST on November 29th at Amon G. Carter Stadium and the game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Taking a look at the Week 14 college football odds, TCU opened as a 12-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread has increased by a full point after early betting, as the Horned Frogs are currently available at -13. The total for the game is sitting at 44 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: TCU vs West Virginia

West Virginia couldn’t find a way to get past #21 overall Oklahoma State last weekend, losing 20-13 at home to drop to 4-7 on the season overall. The Mountaineers had a 10-7 lead at the half but couldn’t find a way to hold on down the stretch, getting outscored 13-3 over the final two quarters of the game. QB Jarret Doege went 28/38 for 307 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while RB Leddie Brown led the way on the ground despite rushing for only 31 yards on 13 carries. George Campbell was on the receiving end of the only touchdown of the game for the offense, finding pay dirt on one of his five catches for 92 yards. Overall, West Virginia gained under 350 total yards of offense in the loss.

The Mountaineers had a somewhat respectable outing on the other side of the ball against Oklahoma State, giving up under 300 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. West Virginia was especially strong defending against the run, allowing only 95 net rushing yards and keeping star Cowboys RB Chuba Hubbard out of the end zone.

TCU has now lost three out of their last four games after falling 28-24 on the road against #7 overall Oklahoma to move to 5-6 on the season overall. The Horned Frogs gave up 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and never fully recovered despite scoring two touchdowns in the second half. QB Max Duggan didn’t do much through the air, going just 7/21 for 65 passing yards while also getting picked off once. However, Duggan led the way on the ground with a team-high 12 carries for 92 rushing yards and a touchdown. None of the receiving corps ever really made an impact, as no member of the offense was able to gain more than 34 yards or record more than three catches against a tough Sooners secondary. As a whole, TCU barely generated more than 200 total yards in the defeat.

The Horned Frogs weren’t that great defensively against Oklahoma, surrendering well over 500 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. TCU had no answer for Sooners QB Jalen Hurts on the ground, as he torched the defense for 173 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 44

I don’t really see a ton of value against the spread with either side in this particular spot, as the number looks pretty efficient to me overall. TCU has to win outright in order to become bowl-eligible, so they should certainly be at their best in what is literally a must-win game. However, I’m not overly crazy about laying almost two touchdowns against the spread, as the Horned Frogs have only managed to win one game by more than ten points since mid-September. Their defense has also not played all that well this season, giving up an average of over 30 points per game. On the other side, I really don’t trust the West Virginia defense to slow down Max Duggan through the air, as the Mountaineers have already allowed several big outings to opposing quarterbacks this year. Therefore, my favorite play from this BIG 12 battle is the OVER on 44 total points scored.

It is also important to note that the Horned Frogs have been involve in plenty of high-scoring matchups at Amon G. Carter Stadium through the first 13 weeks of the season, as the total has gone OVER in three out of their last four home games. The OVER has also hit in four out of TCU’s last five games and in seven out of their first nine games overall. Finally, the OVER has come through in four out of TCU’s last five conference games and in two out of the last three road meetings West Virginia has had with a BIG 12 opponent as well. I’m going to avoid throwing darts against a tough spread in favor of the OVER on 44 total points scored on Friday afternoon.
