The Tulane Green Wave (6-3) travel to Philadelphia this weekend for an American Athletic Conference clash with the Temple Owls (6-3). Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM EST on November 16th at Lincoln Financial Field and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
Taking a look at the Week 12 college football odds, Temple opened as a 4.5-point home underdog earlier this week. The spread has increased by over a full point after early betting, as the Owls are currently available at +6. The total for the game is sitting at 55 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Temple vs Tulane
Tulane snapped a two game losing streak their last time out, beating Tulsa 38-26 at home to improve to 6-3 on the season overall. The Green Wave scored 10 unanswered points in the first quarter and never looked back, cruising to a double-digit victory over the final 45 minutes of the game. QB Justin McMillan wasn’t spectacular through the air, going 12/16 for 184 passing yards and a touchdown but also getting picked off twice. However, McMillan did have a ton of success on the ground, finding the end zone three times while also racking up 73 yards on 12 carries. Jalen McCleskey led the way for the receiving corps, making two catches for 53 yards. Overall, Tulane generated over 450 total yards of offense and scored four touchdowns in the win.
The Green Wave had an average outing on the other side of the ball against Tulsa, giving just under 400 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. Tulane struggled at times trying to contain Golden Hurricane WR Keylon Stokes, who hauled in three receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown while also adding 25 rushing yards on the ground.
Temple avoided losing their third straight game last weekend after a 17-7 road victory over South Florida. The Owls had a 7-0 lead at the half and managed to hang on for the win down the stretch, outscoring the Bulls 10-7 over the final two quarters. QB Anthony Russo went 15/21 for 164 passing yards while RB Jager Gardner racked up 133 rushing yards on a game-high 25 carries. Jadan Blue ran circles around the USF secondary, torching the defense for 121 yards on 11 receptions. As a whole, Temple gained well over 300 total yards of offense and scored one touchdown.
The Owls were outstanding defensively against South Florida, holding the Bulls to under 300 total yards of offense and surrendering just one touchdown. Temple was especially strong defending against the run, allowing only 61 net rushing yards.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 55
While I am leaning slightly towards taking the six points and rolling with the home underdog in this American Athletic Conference matchup, I really don’t see a ton of value against the spread – especially considering that Tulane is a rock-solid 7-2 ATS through their first nine games this season. However, the Owls are a perfect 4-0 against the spread at home and have also covered the number in three straight meetings between these two programs. Still, I think that the best play in this particular spot is probably the OVER on 55 total points scored. The Green Wave have really struggled defensively as of late, giving up at least 40 points in two out of their last three games. Temple has also had a tough time slowing down opposing offenses in recent weeks, surrendering at least 45 points twice over a three-week span.

It is also important to note that both of these schools have been involved in some high-scoring battles recently, especially Tulane. In fact, the total has now gone OVER in six out of Tulane’s last seven games overall – including three out of their last four games away from Yulman Stadium. The OVER has also come through in five out of their last six meetings with an opponent from the American Athletic Conference. On the other side, the OVER has come through in two straight games Temple has played at home against a team from the AAC. With both teams performing well against the spread and the number looking pretty efficient overall, I’m going to take a shot with the OVER on 55 total points in what should be a high-scoring battle on Saturday afternoon.
