The Mississippi State Bulldogs (3-4) travel to College Station this weekend for an SEC West clash with the Texas A&M Aggies  (4-3).  Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM EST on October 26th at Kyle Field and the game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.

Taking a look at the Week 9 college football odds, Texas A&M opened as a 10.5-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Aggies are currently listed at -10.5. The total for the game is sitting at 49 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Texas A&M vs MS State

Mississippi State lost their third game in a row last weekend, falling 36-13 at home against #2 LSU to move to 3-4 on the season overall. The Bulldogs trailed 22-7 at the half and couldn’t find a way to pull off a comeback in the second half, getting outscored 14-6 over the final 30 minutes of the game. QB Garrett Shrader went 17/28 for 238 yards and one touchdown but also got picked off twice. Shrader did have some success on the ground, rushing for a team-high 66 yards on 19 carries while also finding the end zone once. Stephen Guidry caught the only passing touchdown of the game for the offense on one of his six receptions for 98 yards. As a whole, MS State generated almost 350 total yards of offense and scored two touchdowns against a very tough Tigers defense.

The Bulldogs had a below average outing on the other side of the ball against LSU, surrendering over 400 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. Mississippi State really struggled to slow down Tigers QB Joe Burrow through the air, as he threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns.

Texas A&M has now won two out of their last three games after beating Ole Miss 24-17 on the road last weekend to get back above the .500 mark on the season. The Aggies were up by a field goal heading into the fourth quarter and put the game out of reach late after scoring a critical touchdown with under 15 minutes left on the clock. QB Kellen Mond went 16/28 for 172 yards and a touchdown but also threw two costly interceptions. RB Isaiah Spiller led the way on the ground, rushing for 78 yards and a touchdown on a team-high 16 carries. Kendrick Rogers also chipped in, finding the end zone on one of his two receptions for 23 yards. Overall, Texas A&M gained well over 300 total yards of offense and scored two touchdowns in the win.

The Aggies were pretty solid defensively against Ole Miss, holding the Rebels to just two touchdowns despite giving up around 400 total yards of offense. Texas A&M was especially strong defending against the pass, surrendering only 155 yards through the air and forcing an interception as well.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 49

I don’t really have a strong lean either way against the spread in this SEC West battle, although Texas A&M should find a way to win this game outright here in Week 9 – especially since they are playing at home. Still, I’m not crazy about laying over ten points against a very solid MS State squad that almost stayed within three touchdowns of the #2 overall team in the entire nation last weekend. However, I do think that there is still some value with the OVER on 49 total points scored. The Aggies have scored at least 20 points in five straight games, and several of those outings were against Top 10 ranked opponents – including Auburn and Alabama.

On the other side, Mississippi State has now given up at least 36 points in two out of their last three games. They also gave up 31 points against Kansas State back in Week 3. The Bulldogs have also had a fair amount of success offensively through their first seven games, scoring at least three touchdowns on five separate occasions. I’m going to avoid both of these SEC West rivals against the spread on Saturday afternoon, as the number currently looks far too efficient for my tastes. I’ll take my chances with the OVER on 49 total points scored instead.
