The Kansas State Wildcats (6-4) travel to Lubbock this weekend for a BIG 12 battle with the Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-6). Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM EST on November 23rd at Jones AT&T Stadium and the game will be televised on FS1.

Taking a look at the Week 13 college football odds, Texas Tech opened as a 2.5-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Red Raiders are currently available at -2.5. The total for the game is sitting at 55 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Texas Tech vs Kansas State

Kansas State lost their second straight game last weekend, falling 24-20 at home against West Virginia to drop to 6-4 on the season overall. The Wildcats had a 20-14 lead at the start of the fourth quarter but completely fell apart down the stretch, giving up ten unanswered points. QB Skylar Thompson went 24/39 for 299 passing yards and a touchdown through the air but also got picked off twice as well. James Gilbert led the way on the ground, rushing for 60 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Dalton Schoen also found the end zone, hitting pay dirt on one of his two receptions for 84 yards. As a whole, Kansas State gained well over 400 total yards of offense and scored two touchdowns despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.

The Wildcats had an average outing on the other side of the ball against West Virginia, surrendering over 300 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. Kansas State did a great job slowing down the Mountaineers on the ground, allowing only 87 net rushing yards.

Texas Tech has now dropped four out of their last five games after a tough 33-31 loss at home against TCU last weekend. The Red Raiders gave up 17 unanswered points in the first quarter and couldn’t find a way to pull off a comeback victory despite outscoring the Horned Frogs 31-16 over the final 45 minutes of the game. QB Jett Duffey certainly wasn’t to blame for the loss, going 19/33 for 333 passing yards and four touchdowns through the air. He also led the way on the ground, rushing for 42 yards on a team-high nine carries. RJ Turner embarrassed the Horned Frogs secondary, exploding for 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns on just three catches. Overall, Texas Tech generated over 400 total yards of offense and found the end zone four times.

The Red Raiders struggled defensively against TCU, giving up well over 525 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. Texas Tech had no answer for Taye Barber and Jalen Reagor, as they combined for 220 receiving yards and a touchdown on 11 catches.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 55

I really don’t have a strong lean either way against the spread in this BIG 12 showdown, as this matchup could easily go either way on Saturday evening. While I am leaning slightly towards taking the 2.5 points and rolling with Kansas State on the road here in Week 13, I am a little bit concerned about their downswing over the past couple of weeks. The Wildcats are also only .500 overall against the spread on the road so far this season as well. Even though I’d probably still rather take a shot with the road underdog in this particular spot, my favorite play is definitely the OVER on 55 total points scored. Texas Tech has really struggled defensively since the beginning of October, giving up an average of well over 35 points per game over their last seven outings.

Both offenses have really been firing on all cylinders as of late as well, scoring at least 130 total points over their last four games combined – an average of well over 30 points per outing. It is also important to note that these two BIG 12 rivals have been involved in plenty of high-scoring games together in recent years, as the total has now gone OVER in nine out of their last eleven meetings overall. The OVER has also come through in six straight meetings between Texas Tech and Kansas State at Jones AT&T Stadium as well. Since I really don’t feel all that confident about taking a struggling Wildcats squad against the spread, I’ll take a shot with the OVER on 55 total points scored instead.
