Vegas Game Odds & Betting Preview: Titans vs Giants

Tennessee comes into this contest off a 30-9 blowout win over the Jaguars on Thursday Night Football. It was an unbelievable night for Titans running back Derrick Henry, who had 238 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 17 carries, including a record-tying 99-yard TD run. What’s amazing is Henry had just 474 yards and 5 touchdowns on the entire season coming into that game. The win kept the Titans’ playoff hopes alive, but there’s plenty of work to do. Tennessee’s hopes of catching the Texans in the AFC South are slim to none (back 2 games with 3 to play), so it’s basically down the the final Wild Card spot, which as of right now they are tied for with 3 other teams.

The Giants enter off their most dominant performance of the season. New York went on the road and whooped division rival Washington 40-16. It could have been even worse, as the Giants took a 34-0 lead into the half. That’s back-to-back wins for New York, who is now 4-1 in their last 5 games. Giants are mathematically still alive for a playoff spot, but would need a lot to go right to just have a chance.

Free NFL Betting Pick & Predictions: Giants -2.5

I would have to lean towards laying the field goal at home with the Giants. I’m just not a big fan of the Titans and this line tells me the books aren’t either. The public is going to come in on Tennessee. Not only because of the big difference in record, but they just watched the Titans dominate a bad team last week on Thursday Night Football. I also think the perception is they are the only ones with something to play for.

I personally see a ton of value with New York laying less than field goal. I think the Giants are playing the better football right now. Even if Odell Beckham doesn’t play, which it appears is 50/50, I still trust New York’s offense more than the Titans. Tennessee’s offense offers little to no threat of a passing attack and I think that makes them vulnerable to losing to any team in the league.

Sure if the rush for 200+ yards they will be tough to beat, but don’t be fooled by that performance. Sure it looks good coming against what is perceived to be a good Jaguars defense. However, Jacksonville clearly has thrown in the towel on their season and were already in a horrible spot having to play on the road on just 3 days of rest.

That’s why I’m not reading anything into that win. I’m expecting to see something more similar to the Titans team that needed to rally from a 13-point deficit at home against the Jets to pull out a 26-22 win. I not only think the Giants are winning this game, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they won here going away.

Over the last 3 seasons the Titans are a miserable 1-10 ATS on the road after a game where their offense averaged 6 or more yards/play and have lost in this spot by an average of 9.3 ppg. Tennessee is also 0-6 ATS over the last 2 seasons when they play on the road having won 2 or more games in a row. Give me the Giants -2.5!
