Taking a look at the Week 13 college football odds, Connecticut opened as a 14-point home underdog earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Huskies are currently available at +14. The total for the game is sitting at 64.5 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Connecticut vs ECU
East Carolina couldn’t quite find a way to pull of a massive upset against #21 SMU their last time out, falling 59-51 on the road to drop to 3-7 on the season overall. The Pirates fought hard all game but never managed to fully overcome giving up two touchdowns in the first quarter despite racking up 44 points over the final 45 minutes. QB Holton Ahlers certainly did his part, going 32/42 for 498 passing yards and a season-high six touchdowns through the air. RB Tay Williams led the way on the ground, rushing for 61 yards on a team-high 14 carries. Tyler Snead absolutely torched the Mustangs secondary, exploding for 240 yards and three touchdowns on a ridiculous 19 receptions. As a whole, East Carolina generated almost 650 total yards of offense and found the end zone six times despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.
The Pirates had a horrific outing on the other side of the ball against SMU, getting lit up for close to 650 total yards of offense and eight touchdowns. East Carolina had no answer for Mustangs WR James Proche, as he hauled in 14 receptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns.
Connecticut didn’t have a good showing their last time out, getting crushed 48-3 on the road against #17 overall Cincinnati to drop to just 2-8 on the season overall. The Huskies gave up 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and never recovered, scoring just a single field goal all game against a stingy Bearcats defense. Mike Beaudry and Jack Zergiotis combined for just 70 yards through the air while also failing to throw a single touchdown pass as well. RB Kevin Mensah had a bit more success on the ground, rushing for 115 yards on a team-high 24 carries. Ardell Brown led the way for the receiving corps despite making just three catches for 29 yards. Overall, Connecticut gained just over 200 total yards of offense in the blowout loss.
The Huskies struggled defensively against Cincinnati, surrendering well over 500 total yards of offense and six touchdowns. Connecticut couldn’t find a way to slow down Bearcats RB Gerrid Doaks on the ground, as he rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on just 13 carries.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: East Carolina -14
I’m leaning slightly towards laying the two full touchdowns and rolling with the Pirates in this particular spot, as they have certainly been the more consistent team on both sides of the ball this season. Their offense has really been firing on all cylinders lately as well, scoring 94 total points over just their last two games combined. The same definitely can’t be said about the Huskies, as Connecticut has only produced 13 total points over that same time span. They have also really struggled on defense for most of the year, giving up a ridiculous 48 points or more in six out of their first ten games.

ECU has really fared well against the spread through their first six conference games, going a very solid 4-2 ATS. UConn hasn’t performed nearly as well, failing to cover the number in four out of their last six matchups against an American Athletic Conference opponent. It is also important to point out that the Pirates have absolutely dominated the Huskies against the spread over their last several meetings, going a perfect 3-0 ATS dating back to 2016. While I will likely avoid this spot altogether if the spread increases by more than half a point before kickoff, I really don’t have a problem firing on East Carolina to cover the spread with the way things sit right now. Give me the road favorite!
