The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (6-4) travel to Nevada this weekend for a Mountain West Conference showdown with the UNLV Rebels (2-7). Kickoff is set for 4:00 PM EST on November 16th at Sam Boyd Stadium and the game will be televised on Facebook Live.

Taking a look at the Week 12 college football odds, UNLV opened as a 6.5-point home underdog earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Rebels are currently available at +6.5. The total for the game is sitting at 72 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: UNLV vs Hawaii

Hawaii has now won two out of their last three games after beating San Jose State 42-40 last weekend to improve to 6-4 on the season overall. The Rainbow Warriors outscored the Spartans 21-17 in the second half en route to a thrilling two-point victory. QB Chevan Cordeiro was fantastic, going 23/31 for 309 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air while also rushing for 55 yards and two scores on the ground. RB Miles Reed also chipped in, racking up 124 rushing yards and a touchdown on a team-high 17 carries. JoJo Ward also got in on the scoring parade, hauling in seven receptions for 170 yards and two touchdowns. Overall, Hawaii gained well over 500 total yards of offense and found the end zone six times against a shell-shocked Spartans defense.

The Rainbow Warriors didn’t play well on the other side of the ball against San Jose State, giving up 499 yards of total offense and four touchdowns. Hawaii had no answer for Spartans RB DeJon Packer on the ground, as he torched the defense for 112 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

UNLV couldn’t find a way to get past Colorado State on the road their last time out, falling 37-17 to drop to just 2-7 on the season overall. The Rebels gave up 21 unanswered points in the first quarter and never recovered, scoring two late touchdowns with the game already well out of reach. QB Kenyon Oblad went 22/39 for 280 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air while RB Charles Williams led the way on the ground with 83 rushing yards on 17 carries. Randal Grimes was pretty much the only bright spot on offense, making seven catches for 92 receiving yards and a touchdown. As a whole, UNLV generated just under 400 total yards of offense in their third consecutive loss.

The Rebels struggled defensively against Colorado State, surrendering over 400 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. UNLV couldn’t find a way to contain Rams WR Warren Jackson, as he exploded for 133 receiving yards on just six catches.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 72

There should certainly be plenty of offense between these two Mountain West rivals on Saturday afternoon, as both defenses have really struggled so far this season. Hawaii in particular has been especially bad, giving up at least 40 points in four out of their last five outings. However, their offense has certainly picked of some of the slack, scoring 125 total points over just their last three games combined. While I think that the Rainbow Warriors should probably find a way to grind out a cover on the road in this spot, I’d much prefer to take a shot with the OVER on 72 total points scored in what will likely be one of the highest scoring games of the entire weekend.

It is certainly worth noting that the total has gone OVER in each of the last five games that Hawaii has played. In fact, the lowest combined point total in an individual game over that time span was an astronomical 76 points – well over the current total for this matchup. These two teams have also been involved in their fair share of shootouts together in recent years, as the OVER has come through in eight out of their last ten meetings overall. Finally, the OVER has hit in five straight games that the Rainbow Warriors have faced a Mountain West opponent. I’ll likely avoid the spread entirely in favor of the OVER on 72 total points scored in what should be a highly entertaining battle.
