Taking a look at the Week 13 college football odds, San Jose State opened as 6-point road favorite earlier this week. The spread has increased by half a point after early betting, as the Spartans are currently available at -6.5. The total for the game is sitting at 65 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: UNLV vs San Jose State

San Jose State has now lost four out of their last five games after falling 42-40 on the road against Hawaii to drop to 4-6 on the season overall. The Spartans had a 23-21 lead at the half but couldn’t hold on down the stretch, giving up three touchdowns over the final two quarters en route to a two-point defeat. QB Josh Love went 30/45 for 375 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air while DeJon Packer racked up 112 rushing yards and two touchdowns on a team-high 20 carries on the ground. Tre Walker and Isaiah Hamilton also had big games, combining for 143 receiving yards and a touchdown. As a whole, San Jose State generated almost 500 total yards and scored four touchdowns on offense despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.

The Spartans had a brutal outing on the other side of the ball against Hawaii, surrendering well over 500 total yards of offense and six touchdowns. San Jose State had no answer for Rainbow Warriors WR JoJo Ward, as he torched the secondary for 170 yards and two touchdowns on just seven receptions.

UNLV lost their fourth game in a row last weekend, falling 21-7 at home against Hawaii to drop to just 2-8 on the season overall. The Rebels jumped out to an early 7-0 lead but it was all downhill from there as the Rainbow Warriors scored three unanswered touchdowns over the final three quarters of the game. QB Kenyon Oblad went 10/22 for 118 passing yards and a touchdown but also got picked off twice as well. Chad Magyar was a beast on the ground, averaging 7.2 yards per carry over nine rushing attempts. Darren Woods Jr. led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in six catches for 63 yards and a touchdown. Overall, UNLV gained over 200 yards of offense and found the end zone just once in an unexpected defensive battle.

The Rebels were average defensively against Hawaii, giving up almost 450 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. UNLV had a tough time slowing down WR Jared Smart, as he made nine receptions for a team-high 106 yards.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: SJ State -6.5

I think that the Spartans offer pretty decent value in this Mountain West Conference clash on Saturday afternoon, as UNLV is a dreadful 2-5 against the spread over their last seven games overall. They have also dominated this Mountain West rivalry in recent years, covering the number in seven out of their last eight meetings. San Jose State has really been firing on all cylinders offensively lately as well, scoring at least 40 points in back to back games. It could easily be another long day for a below average Rebels defense that has allowed 134 total points over their last four games combined.

While this is the last ever game to take place at Sam Boyd Stadium before UNLV moves to a new facility at the beginning of next season, I don’t think that the Rebels will be able to keep pace with San Jose State on offense in order to send the old barn off into the sunset with a home victory. In fact, UNLV has only managed to score 41 total points over their last three outings combined, which certainly doesn’t bode well for them here in Week 13. The Spartans have also been terrific against the spread over the past couple of months, going a very impressive 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. I’m going to lay the 6.5 points and roll with the road favorite, as San Jose State should find a way to cover the spread. Give me the Spartans!
