The #17 overall Cincinnati Bearcats (8-1) travel to Tampa this weekend for an American East battle with the South Florida Bulls (4-5). Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM EST on November 16th at Raymond James Stadium and the game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.

Taking a look at the Week 12 college football odds, Cincinnati opened as a 14-point road favorite earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Bearcats are currently available at -14. The total for the game is sitting at 47 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: USF vs Cincinnati

Cincinnati has now won eight out of their first nine games on the season after crushing Connecticut 48-3 their last time out to improve to 8-1 overall. The Bearcats scored 38 unanswered points in the first half alone to put the game out of reach early en route to yet another double-digit victory. QB Desmond Ridder went 13/23 for 136 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air while also adding seven carries for 94 rushing yards. RB Gerrid Doaks was a beast on the ground, racking up 123 yards and a score on 13 carries. Michael Warren II also chipped in, scoring two rushing touchdowns on a team-high 14 carries. Josiah Deguara also got in on the scoring parade, finding the end zone twice on two of his five catches for 45 receiving yards. Overall, Cincinnati generated more than 500 total yards of offense and scored six touchdowns against a shell-shocked Huskies defense.

The Bearcats were also solid on the other side of the ball against Connecticut, giving up just over 200 total yards of offense and only a single field goal. Cincinnati was especially solid defending against the pass, allowing only 70 yards through the air and recording one interception.

South Florida couldn’t find a way to get past Temple at home last Thursday, falling 17-7 to drop to 4-5 on the season overall. The Bulls fought hard all game but couldn’t find a way to score more than a single touchdown against a tough Owls defense. QB Jordan McCloud went 23/38 for 225 passing yards and a touchdown through the air but the ground attack never really got anything going, gaining only 61 net rushing yards all game. Mitchell Wilcox led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in five receptions for 55 yards. As a whole, South Florida gained under 300 total yards of offense in their second loss in three games.

The Bulls were pretty good defensively against Temple, holding the Owls to just a single touchdown despite giving up more than 300 total yards of offense. South Florida did struggle a little bit trying to contain WR Jadan Blue, as he torched the defense for 11 catches and 121 receiving yards.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 47

While I’m leaning slightly towards laying the two touchdowns and taking the Bearcats against the spread in this American East clash, South Florida has played pretty well for the most part this season. Even though Cincinnati will likely win outright with relative ease, I am a bit concerned about a backdoor cover. However, I do think that the OVER on 47 total points scored offers somewhat decent value, as both teams have been involved in plenty of high scoring matchups as of late. The Bulls have already participated in three games this year where both teams combined to score 65, 69, and 70 points respectively. Two out of those three opponents, East Carolina and Connecticut, were also involved in high-scoring clashes with the Bearcats as well. Cincinnati has also really been firing on all cylinders offensively over the last couple of weeks, scoring 94 total points in their last two games combined.

These American East rivals have been involved in some back and forth battles together over the past couple of seasons, as the total has gone OVER in two out of their last three meetings. The OVER has also come through in three out of South Florida’s last four home games and in five out of their last seven outings overall as well. On the other side, the OVER has hit in two out of Cincinnati’s last three games on the road. Give me the OVER on 47 total points scored in a matchup where both sides should be able to find a fair amount of success on offense.
