Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Utah State vs Wyoming
Wyoming saw their two game winning streak come to an end last weekend, falling 20-17 in overtime against #19 overall Boise State. The Cowboys fought hard all game but couldn’t find a way to hold on to their fourth quarter lead down the stretch, giving up a late touchdown before losing in the extra session. QB Tyler Vander Waal went 15/23 for 160 passing yards through the air while also adding a score on the ground. RB Xazavian Valladay also chipped in, racking up 124 rushing yards and a touchdown on a team-high 37 carries. Josh Harshman led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in six catches for 48 yards. As a whole, Wyoming generated almost 300 total yards of offense despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.
The Cowboys were pretty decent on the other side of the ball against Boise State, holding the Broncos to under 300 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. Wyoming was especially solid defending against the run, allowing only 93 rushing yards.
Utah State snapped a two game losing slide last weekend, beating Fresno State 37-35 on the road to get back above the .500 mark on the season. The Aggies jumped out to a 21-14 lead in the first half and managed to hold on down the stretch despite getting outscored 21-16 over the final two quarters of the game. QB Jordan Love went 30/39 for 388 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air while also adding 30 rushing yards on six carries. RB Gerold Bright was a beast on the ground, averaging 5.6 yards per carry while also finding the end zone. Siaosi Mariner ran circles around the Bulldogs secondary, making a game-high 11 receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Overall, Utah State gained well over 500 total yards and scored four touchdowns on offense in the victory.
The Aggies struggled defensively against Fresno State, surrendering over 400 total yards of offense and five touchdowns. Utah State couldn’t find a way to slow down Bulldogs RB Ronnie Rivers on the ground, as he torched the defense for 102 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: UNDER 50
I’m really not seeing a ton of value on either side against the spread in this Mountain West clash, as Utah State probably deserves to be favored at home. However, Wyoming has the better record both outright and against the spread. The Cowboys have also found a way to cover the number in two out of their last three road games, which has me leaning more towards taking the 4.5 points and rolling with the slight road underdog. However, I think my favorite play from this matchup is likely the UNDER on 50 total points scored. Wyoming has been outstanding defensively for much of the season, giving up only about ten points per game over their last three outings.

The Aggies have also been involved in plenty of low scoring games at home this season, as the total has gone UNDER in two out of their last three games at Maverik Stadium. The UNDER has also come through in two out of Wyoming’s last three games on the road. Finally, the UNDER has hit in six out of the last nine games that the Cowboys have played overall. Ultimately, I certainly don’t mind taking the points and siding with Wyoming against the spread. Even so, the optimal play in this particular spot is the UNDER on 50 total points in what should be a close, low-scoring Mountain West Conference battle.
