The UCLA Bruins (4-5) travel to Salt Lake City this weekend for a PAC-12 clash with the #8 overall Utah Utes (8-1). Kickoff is set for 8:00 PM EST on November 16th at Rice-Eccles Stadium and the game will be nationally televised on FOX.

Taking a look at the Week 12 college football odds, Utah opened as a 21-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Utes are currently available at -21. The total for the game is sitting at 52.5 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Utah vs UCLA

UCLA improved to 4-5 on the season overall their last time out, beating Colorado 31-14 at home. The Bruins scored 17 unanswered points in the first quarter and never looked back, cruising to their third victory in a row. QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson went 21/28 for 226 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air while also adding 38 rushing yards on 11 carries on the ground. RB Joshua Kelley torched the Buffaloes defense, racking up 126 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. Devin Asiasi and Ethan Fernea also joined the scoring parade, combining for 90 receiving yards and two touchdowns. As a whole, UCLA generated almost 450 total yards of offense and scored four touchdowns in the win.

The Bruins also had a decent outing on the other side of the ball against Colorado, allowing under 300 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. UCLA was especially solid on the ground, holding the Buffaloes to only 88 net rushing yards.

Utah has now won eight out of their first nine games on the season after sneaking by Washington 33-28 on the road in Week 10 to move to 8-1 overall. The Utes trailed by a single point at the half but really turned it on over the final two quarters, outscoring the Huskies 20-14 en route to their eighth victory of the year. QB Tyler Huntley went 19/24 for 284 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while also adding a score on the ground despite rushing for only six yards on seven carries. RB Zack Moss was fantastic, finding the end zone on one of his team-high 27 carries for 100 rushing yards as well as making five receptions for 41 yards and another touchdown. Jaylen Dixon led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in two catches for 72 yards. Overall, Utah gained over 400 total yards and scored three touchdowns on offense in the win.

The Utes weren’t at their best defensively against Washington, surrendering almost 400 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. Utah had no answer for Huskies WR Hunter Bryant, as he torched the defense for 105 yards and two scores on six receptions.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: UNDER 52.5

I really don’t see a ton of value with either side in this PAC-12 clash here in Week 12, as the number looks pretty efficient to me overall. While I am probably leaning slightly towards taking the 21 points and rolling with the road underdog, I also don’t really want to go out of my way to bet against a Utes squad that is has gone a perfect 3-0 against the spread over the last three meetings with UCLA. Things also didn’t exactly go all that well for the Bruins in their most recent visit to Rice-Eccles Stadium either, as they lost by over four touchdowns despite being just a single-digit underdog. Therefore, I actually think the best play in this particular spot is the UNDER on 52.5 total points scored – especially since Utah has given up only 43 total points over their last four games combined.

It is also important to note that both of these programs have been involved in plenty of low scoring games together in recent years, as the UNDER has come through in seven out of their last ten meetings overall. The total has also gone UNDER in four of Utah’s last five games overall and in four out of their last five home games as well. Even though the Utes should find some offensive success against a below average Bruins defense, Utah will likely establish an early lead before winding down the clock with workhorse Zack Moss. I’m going to avoid both teams against the spread in favor of the UNDER on 52.5 on Saturday evening.
