The Vanderbilt Commodores (0-2) host the #4 overall LSU Tigers (3-0) in Nashville on Saturday for an all-SEC battle. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM EST on Saturday, September 21st at Vanderbilt Stadium and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.

Taking a look at the Week 4 college football odds, LSU opened as a 22-point road favorite earlier this week. That line has moved by two full points after early betting, as the Tigers are currently listed at -24. The total for the game is sitting at 57 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Vanderbilt vs LSU

LSU moved to 3-0 last weekend after a convincing 65-14 victory over Northwestern State. The Tigers led 24-14 at the half before exploding for 27 unanswered points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. QB Joe Burrow was 21/24 for 373 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He also had a good game on the ground, rushing seven times for 30 yards and another score. RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire also had a multi-touchdown performance, finding the end zone twice on 13 carries. Justin Jefferson and Terrace Marshall Jr. combined for 199 yards receiving and another two touchdowns. As a whole, the LSU offense racked up just under 600 total yards and scored eight touchdowns against a bad Northwestern State defense.

The Tigers defense was pretty solid in Week 3, giving up two touchdowns on under 300 total yards of offense. LSU was especially strong against the run, holding the Demons to just 46 rushing yards and not allowing a touchdown on the ground.

Vanderbilt is still in search of the first win after coming off their bye week heading into Week 4 action. The Commodores fell 42-24 on the road to Purdue their last time out despite trailing just 14-10 at the half. QB Riley Neal was 24/35 for 378 yards and two touchdowns while RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn rushed 17 times for 56 yards and a score on the ground. The player of the game offensively for Vanderbilt was clearly WR Chris Pierce, who turned his three receptions into 133 yards and a touchdown. Despite the loss, the offense still gained almost 500 total yards of offense and scored three touchdowns.

The Commodores defense clearly struggled immensely against the Boilermakers, surrendering almost 550 yards of total offense and allowing six touchdowns. Vanderbilt was especially bad against the pass, as Purdue QB Elijah Sindelar exploded for 509 yards passing and five touchdowns.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 57

Despite facing a massive 24-point spread in a divisional matchup, I’m pretty confident that LSU will likely cover in this particular spot. Burrow is absolutely on fire right now while Vanderbilt could easily be the worst team in the entire SEC. The Commodores have yet to win a game and have allowed their opponents to score 72 points combined over just two games – and have given up at least 30 points in each game individually. However, this spread has already jumped two full points and may continue to climb even higher later in the week. That’s why I think the OVER on 57 currently has the most value, as LSU is easily capable of scoring 50+ points in this game on their own.

The Tigers offense has now scored 55, 45, and 65 points in each one of their first three games to open the regular season. They also gave up almost 40 points to Texas in Week 2, which means that the Commodores should be able to theoretically score at least 12-17 points at home on Saturday afternoon. While I think that Burrow and Co. go off for another 50+ point outing, even if they only match their 45-point performance against #12 Texas in Week 2, the OVER on 57 should happen with relative ease. The Commodores just gave up 42-points to Purdue back in Week 2 and will have another long afternoon defensively in this one. Look for the Tigers to grind out a cover on the road in this matchup, but for the OVER to eclipse 57 well before the final few minutes of the fourth quarter.
