Southern Cal vs Arizona State Vegas Preview & Betting Odds
USC got it handed to them on the road this past Saturday, losing 14-49 at Notre Dame as a 3.5-point underdog. I don’t it was a shock to see them lose that game, but more so how they got manhandled by the Irish. That just added to the profits for those that have been fading USC this season. The Trojans are just 1-7 ATS and haven’t covered since their Week 2 win over Stanford.
The Sun Devils did it again. Arizona State went on the road and defeated Utah 30-10 as a 10-point underdog. That’s now four straight covers as a double-digit dog for the Sun Devils, three of which they have won outright. The most impressive thing the past two weeks is the play of the defense. After allowing 30 or more in each of their first 5 games, they have allowed 17 points combined in their last two against Washington and Utah.
The Trojans beat the Sun Devils 41-20 as a 9-point home favorite a season ago. They also won in convincing fashion the last time they visited Tempe, beating Arizona State 42-14 as a 4-point road favorite.
NCAA Football Free Pick & Betting Predictions: USC -3
If I had to pick a side in this one, I would have to lay the 3-points with the Trojans. I know USC needs a ton of help to make the playoffs at 6-2, but they are still in a great position to win the Pac-12 South. I also think there’s a lot of pride on the line for the Trojans in this game. No one likes to be embarrassed the way that USC got it handed to them by Notre Dame. I think they come out looking to make a statement here.

Not every team can handle the pressure of living up to the media hype an I think that’s a big part of why this team has struggled. A lot of that pressure is now gone and I think we get a loose and relaxed USC team for this matchup. On the flip side of this, Arizona State is going from the role of getting no respect as a double-digit dog to now in a spot where most expect them to win.
Let’s also not overlook just how good of a team Notre Dame is. I think there’s a good chance we see the Irish in the playoffs . Prior to that game I think just about everyone would have taken USC -3 in this game. Keep in mind this is the same Arizona State that was a 15-point home dog to Oregon and 17.5-point home dog to Washington.
I also think that defense that has looked so good the past two weeks has their hands full here with Darnold and the USC offense. The Trojans had scored at least 27 points in every game up until last week. They also hadn’t allowed more than 31 in a game. I think they do just enough here to get the win and cover.
USC has gone an impressive 13-4 ATS in their last 17 games following a SU loss and are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 after allowing 40+ points. The favorites is also a solid 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in the series.
