The Liberty Flames (6-4) travel to Charlottesville this weekend for an inter-conference clash with the Virginia Cavaliers (7-3). Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM EST on November 23rd at Scott Stadium and the game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.

Taking a look at the Week 13 college football odds, Virginia opened as 17-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread has come down by a full point after early betting, as the Cavaliers are currently available at -16. The total for the game is sitting at 55 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Virginia vs Liberty

Liberty has now lost two out of their last three games after falling 31-24 on the road against BYU their last time out. The Flames gave up ten unanswered points in the second quarter and never recovered, coming up a touchdown short at the end of the fourth quarter despite outscoring the Cougars 17-14 over the final 30 minutes of the game. QB Stephen Calvert went 27/45 for 303 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air while RB Frankie Hickson rushed for 79 yards on a team-high 16 carries on the ground. Antonio Gandy-Golden led the way for the receiving corps, torching the Cougars secondary for 162 yards and a touchdown on ten catches. Overall, Liberty gained well over 400 total yards of offense and found the end zone three times despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.

The Flames didn’t have that great of an outing on the other side of the ball against BYU, surrendering over 450 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. Liberty had no answer for Cougars WR Micah Simon, as he hauled in seven catches for 91 yards and a touchdown.

Virginia managed to get past Georgia Tech 33-28 at home in Week 11, winning their second consecutive game to improve to 7-3 on the season overall. The Cavaliers had a 24-21 lead at the half and managed to hold on down the stretch despite allowing a late touchdown. QB Bryce Perkins went 24/35 for 258 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while also leading the way on the ground with 106 rushing yards and a score. Terrell Jana also chipped in, making nine receptions for 108 yards. As a whole, Virginia generated well over 400 total yards of offense and scored four touchdowns in the victory.

The Cavaliers struggled defensively against Georgia Tech, allowing the Yellow Jackets to gain over 350 total yards of offense and find the end zone four times. Virginia struggled to contain Jordan Mason on the ground, as he rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on a team-high 19 carries.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 55

I’m not really seeing a ton of value against the spread in this particular spot, as Virginia should find a way to win outright at home. However, laying well over two full touchdowns seems a bit much for me, especially when considering that Liberty is a rock-solid 6-2 outright over their last eight games overall. My favorite play from this matchup is definitely the OVER on 55 total points scored, as both offenses have scored at least 30 points in three out of their last four outings. Neither defense has been that impressive lately either, allowing at least three touchdowns in three straight games.

The Cavaliers really put on a show offensively in their most recent meeting with Liberty, scoring 45 points at home last November during a 45-24 victory. Of course, the most interesting part of that final score involves the game total, as the OVER on 58 hit with relative ease considering both schools combined for 69 points. It is also important to note that the OVER has come through in three out of the last four games that Virginia has played at home this year, which certainly bodes well for the chances of a shootout here in Week 13. I’m going to avoid both teams against the spread in favor of the OVER on 55 total points scored in a game that should see plenty of offensive fireworks.
