The #8 overall Washington State Cougars (8-1) visit Boulder this weekend to take on the Colorado Buffaloes (5-4) in a critical Pac-12 matchup. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST at Folsom Field and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
Taking a look at the Week 11 college football odds, Washington State opened as a 4.5-point road favorite earlier this week. That line has moved by a full point after early betting, as the Cougars are currently listed at -5.5. The total for the game is sitting at 58.5 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Colorado vs Washington State
Washington State won their fifth consecutive game last weekend, sneaking by Cal by a score of 19-13 to move up to #8 overall in the FBS while also improving to 8-1 on the season overall. Things were definitely a little too close for comfort against the fiesty Golden Bears, as the Cougars needed a six-point effort in the fourth quarter to break a 13-13 tie. QB Gardner Minshew led the way offensively, driving all the way down the field in the final minute of the game before throwing a game-winning touchdown pass to WR Easop Winston. Washington State needs to win out while also receiving a bit of help from the teams currently ranked ahead of them to have a shot at the College Football Playoff, but they still do have a chance. Minshew is the key to their success on offense, as he has now recorded at least 300 passing yards in every game he has played this season. As a whole, the Cougars are currently averaging 38.3 points per game (17th overall).
Things have looked slightly above average on the other side of the ball, as Washington is currently yielding an average of 23.8 points per game to opponents (45th overall). The Cougars have been quite good defending against the pass, giving up just 196.1 yards through the air per game (34th overall).
Colorado has now lost four consecutive games after suffering a disappointing 42-34 defeat at the hands of Arizona last weekend. The Buffaloes were red-hot to start the season, starting 5-0 before falling back to earth considerably over the past several weeks. They had every chance to break their losing streak against the Wildcats but simply couldn’t get a stop defensively, giving up 26 points in the second quarter after jumping out to a 10-0 lead. QB Steven Montez certainly did his part against Arizona, throwing for 343 yards and three touchdowns in a losing effort. Like Washington State, Colorado also has a lot to play for as they are still in need of another victory to ensure a bowl appearance this year.
Things haven’t looked great on the other side of the ball for the Buffaloes, as they are currently giving up an average of 25.9 points per game (61st overall). However, they have been brutal over the last four weeks, giving up at least 30 points (and 4o points twice) in three out of four losses.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Washington State -5.5
This line has moved pretty substantially after it opened at -4.5, but I still think the Cougars offer a ton of value in this particular spot. Colorado has just been brutal since starting the season out 5-0 and it certainly doesn’t look like they are close to turning things around any time soon. On the other side, Washington State is riding a ton of momentum and still needs to perform at a high level if they have any shot at making the College Football Playoff. I think they should easily win this game by at least a touchdown, so getting a chance at getting some money down while the line is less than 6 points isn’t something I’m willing to pass up.

The Cougars are a very solid 5-1 ATS over their past six games against teams with a winning record. They are also 8-1 ATS in their last nine games overall. Colorado is just 3-8-1 ATS over their last 12 games against opponents with a winning record. They are also only 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games in the month of November and 0-4 ATS over their last four home games against teams with a winning road record.
All signs point to this game being a relatively stress-free win for Washington State. I know they had a bit of a scare against an average Cal team last weekend, but that should make them even more aware not to take the struggling Buffaloes lightly here in Week 11. I think they roll to convincing 7+ point victory on Saturday afternoon, so I’m more than happy to lay just 5.5 points. Give me the Cougars.
