Week 1 is in the books and now we quickly turn our attention to Week 2. Which starts in just a few short days with the Bengals hosting the Texans on Thursday Night Football.
The first chapter is out on 30 of the 32 teams, as the Buccaneers and Dolphins had their Week 1 matchup postponed due to Hurricane Irma.
Week 2 NFL Vegas Game Lines: Point Spreads & Betting Totals
It’s extremely difficult for the public to not overreact to what they just saw. The have their perceptions of how good or bad a team is going to be. They will base each teams performance on those perceptions. So, for example, say they expected big things out of the Texans and assumed the Jaguars were going to finish with one of the worst records yet again. Instead of giving credit to the Jaguars in their 29-7 win on the road, they credit that win as more of Houston being bad.
It’s why teams that are flying under the radar continue to be a strong bet early on. The public is stubborn and will need to see a lot more evidence before they jump on board. By that time, the books have also caught on to the public movement and will make it difficult for that team to profit by inflating their lines.
So before you going throwing a team under the bus in Week 2, be sure to ask yourself if you are overreacting to what you just saw or if theirs reason to expect it continue. I would also take a second and see how the oddsmakers adjusted by looking at the Super Bowl odds.
Several quality games on tap. The top of the list has to be the Eagles @ Chiefs, Vikings @ Steelers, Cowboys @ Broncos and Packers @ Falcons (SNF). I’m also intrigued by the Titans @ Jaguars, Patriots @ Saints, Redskins @ Rams and of course Monday Night Football with the Lions @ Giants.
Our staff will be previewing the games and giving out a free betting lean on either the spread or total. Links to those previews will be added as they are completed, so be sure to check back throughout the week.
