Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: WKU vs Florida Atlantic

Florida Atlantic has now won five out of their last six games overall after crushing Old Dominion 41-3 on the road last weekend to improve to 5-3 on the season overall. The Owls scored 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and never looked back, giving up just a single field goal the entire game en route to a blowout victory. Chris Robison and Nick Tronti combined for three passing touchdowns and 265 yards though the air while RB Deangelo Antoine led the way on the ground with 48 rushing yards and a score on just a single carry. Harrison Bryant also chipped in, hauling in eight catches for 92 yards and a touchdown. As a whole, Florida Atlantic gained well over 400 total yards of offense and scored five touchdowns in the win.

The Owls had a fantastic outing on the other side of the ball against Old Dominion, holding the Monarchs to 204 total yards of offense and only three points. Florida Atlantic was especially tough against the run, giving up only 70 net rushing yards.

Western Kentucky couldn’t find a way to win their fifth straight game last weekend, falling 26-23 on the road against Marshall to drop to 5-3 on the season overall. The Hilltoppers gave up 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and never fully recovered, coming up just a field goal short despite outscoring the Thundering Herd 23-12 over the final 45 minutes of the game. QB Ty Storey went 31/43 for 292 passing yards while also finding the end zone once on the ground despite rushing for just seven yards on ten carries. Gaej Walker enjoyed a multi-touchdown performance, hitting pay dirt on two of his team-high 12 carries for 102 rushing yards. Lucky Jackson put on a show as well, torching the Thundering Herd secondary 168 receiving yards on 16 catches. Overall, WKU generated well over 400 total yards of offense and scored three touchdowns despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.

The Hilltoppers were average at best defensively against Marshall, surrendering over 400 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. Western Kentucky struggled to contain Thundering Herd QB Isaiah Green at times, as he threw for 230 passing yards and a touchdown and also adding a rushing touchdown as well.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Florida Atlantic +1.5

This is actually a pretty tough spot, as not much appears to separate these two Conference USA rivals. While I am slightly tempted by the OVER on 51 total points scored, Western Kentucky has been involved in plenty of low scoring games through their first eight outings of the season. While the Owls defense certainly leaves much to be desired, I’m just not sure if the Hilltoppers can do enough damage on offense to push the total OVER 51 points. In any event, the only play that I think offers at least somewhat decent value is Florida Atlantic and the 1.5 points. Again, this game could easily go either way and will likely come right down to the wire. However, the Owls have absolutely owned WKU against the spread as of late, covering the number in five out of their last six meetings overall.

Florida Atlantic is also a very impressive 7-3 outright over the last ten meetings between these two teams. Additionally, they are a perfect 6-0 against the spread over their last six road games. On the other side, Western Kentucky is a brutal 1-5 against the spread over their last six games against the Owls at home. I’m going to take the 1.5 points and roll with the slight road underdog here in Week 10 – give me Florida Atlantic to cover and possibly even win outright!
