Western Michigan vs Ohio Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds

Western Michigan Broncos (6-4 SU, 4-5-1 ATS)

The Broncos are trying to get back to the MAC title game for the first time since PJ Fleck’s final season with the team when they finished 13-1. If they can get a win over Ohio they will be in prime position to do just that.

Western Michigan is currently tied on top the West standings with Central Michigan at 4-2, with Ball State and Toledo right on their heels at 3-2. Broncos already have wins over Central Michigan and Ballo State, though they did lose at Toledo. If they win out and the Rockets lose one of their final 3, they will be division champs.

Ohio Bobcats (4-5 SU, 2-7 ATS)

Things don’t look so good for Ohio in the East. Miami (OH) leads the division at 4-1 and while Ohio is just 1-game back at 3-2 in league play, they just lost at home to the RedHawks. Because Miami owns the tiebreaker, the Bobcats would need the RedHawks to lose two of their final three to even have a chance. Highly unlikely given two of Miami’s final three games are at home against bottom feeders Akron and Bowling Green.

Ohio does still need two more wins to get to bowl eligibility, but they should get there even with a loss to the Broncos, as their final two are against the Zips and Falcons.

Matchup History

Last year the Bobcats laid it on the Broncos in a 59-14 win at Western Michigan as a mere 3-point favorite. It had to feel good for Ohio, as they had lost 4 straight to the Broncos in the series. It’s also worth noting that the road team has won each of the last last 3 meetings outright.

Free College Football Pick & Predictions: Western Michigan +1

I would have to lean towards taking the Broncos in this one. I understand Western Michigan is winless on the road this season at 0-4, but two of those were on the road to Power 5 programs and the other two were mere 7-point losses at Toledo and Eastern Michigan. For me this is all about motivation and I think the edge in that department goes to the Broncos.

I get Ohio is mathematically still alive for the East division title, but they know their chances of winning the division are slim to none with them needing Miami (OH) to lose two of their final 3, when the RedHawks have to cupcake games at home against Bowling Green and Akron.

I just think it’s asking a lot for the Bobcats to show up with their best effort in this one, especially coming off last week’s gut-wrenching loss to Miami (OH) in what was easily their biggest game of the season.

This will be senior night for Ohio, but I don’t expect the home fans to send their seniors off in style. Temperatures for this game are expected to be in the low 20’s with wind chill in the teens. I just don’t see the fans showing up for this one.

As for Western Michigan, not only do they have a ton at stake, needing to win to stay on top the East Division, they definitely haven’t forgot about the embarrassing loss to Ohio last year. I not only think the Broncos win, but I could see this thing getting ugly. Give me Western Michigan +1.
