The Wisconsin Badgers (6-4) travel to West Lafayette this weekend to take on the Purdue Boilermakers (5-5) in Big Ten action. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST at Ross-Ade Stadium and the game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.

Taking a look at the Week 12 college football odds, Purdue opened as a 6-point home favorite earlier this week. That line has moved by just half a point after early betting, as the Boilermakers are currently listed at -5.5. The total for the game is sitting at 53 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Purdue vs Wisconsin

Wisconsin will try to avoid losing their second consecutive game on Saturday after a tough 22-10 defeat against Penn State in Week 11. The Badgers now sit at 4-3 in conference play with just a few weeks left in the regular season. Starting QB Alex Hornibrook was unable to suit up against the Nittany Lions last Saturday due to a concussion, so Jack Coan got the nod at quarterback. Coan has not exactly performed all that well, throwing for 282 yards and two touchdowns in three games. He has also been picked off twice as well. There is no doubt that Wisconsin will continue to lean on RB Jonathan Taylor against Purdue, as the electric sophomore has already racked up 1,548 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has also recorded at least 100 yards in nine out of ten games so far this season. As a whole, the offense is currently averaging 28.9 points per game (69th overall).

The Badgers have been excellent on the other side of the ball, allowing opponents to score an average of 21.0 points per game (25th overall). They have looked especially good against the pass, giving up just 190.0 yards per game through the air (28th overall).

Purdue continued their streak of unpredictable play so far this year in Week 11, as they got crushed 41-10 against Minnesota last week despite being 10-point favorites. However, The Boilermakers also managed to beat both Ohio State (49-20) and Iowa (38-36) within the last several weeks. It will be very interesting to see how they stack up against Wisconsin here in Week 12, as they head into this matchup with a three-game winning streak at home. QB David Blough has been fantastic, throwing for 2,825 yards and 18 touchdowns in ten games. He also has recorded at three or more touchdown passes in five out of his last eight games. Blough has had a ton of help this season from his favorite target, WR Rondale Moore. Moore currently has 909 receiving yards and eight touchdowns heading into a showdown with a tough Wisconsin secondary. Overall, Purdue is currently averaging 31.1 points per game (51st overall).

On the other side of the ball, the Boilermakers are currently giving up 25.9 points per game (60th overall). However, they have been horrendous against the pass, as opponents are currently averaging 281.8 yards per game through the air (122nd overall).

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Purdue -5.5

There are two things that really stand out to me in this particular matchup. First of all, Purdue still needs another win to become bowl eligible – they have made too much noise this year against quality teams like Ohio State and Iowa to not find a way to win six games. Secondly, the Boilermakers have been extremely tough to play against at home so far this season. Wisconsin already has six wins and is coming off a disappointing loss to Penn State in Week 11. While this game should stay relatively close throughout, I still think the home team will find a way to win this one by a touchdown.

The Badgers are just 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. They are also a brutal 2-8 ATS so far this season. On the other hand, Purdue is a very solid 5-1 ATS in their last six games against teams with a winning record. They are also a perfect 4-0 ATS over their last four home games.

This should be a pretty entertaining battle between two quality Big Ten opponents. Purdue has been phenomenal through the air so far this year, as they are currently averaging a very impressive 311.8 passing yards per game (14th). While Wisconsin will certainly present them with a stern test, I think that the Boilermakers will ultimately get the job done at home this weekend. I’m laying the 5.5 points and rolling with the home favorite in this spot.
