The state of New Jersey played a massive role in getting sports betting legalized outside of Nevada. It was only fitting given how attractive gambling already was in the state with the high volume of casinos that littered the boardwalk in Atlantic City.

While Delaware was technically the first to take bets outside of Nevada, they only had New Jersey beat by a matter of days. New Jersey sports betting was officially open for business on June 11, 2018 and the first bet was taken just a few days later on June 14.

The first wager was taken at the William Hill sportsbook in Monmouth Park with the Borgata in Atlantic City taking its first wager just 30 minutes later. Several more books have since joined the party.

There are currently 10 land-based casinos with sportsbooks available on site. The majority of those (8) being in Atlantic City. The other two are Monmouth Park in Oceanport and the Meadowlands in East Rutherford (less than a mile from MetLife Stadium).

New Jersey Online Sports Betting Sites & Sportsbook Locations

One thing that’s different from Nevada and all the Las Vegas resorts, is that there are casinos in New Jersey who are affiliated with multiple online sites.

How to Sign Up & Get Started

It’s easy to get up and going with an online sports betting site in New Jersey. While a few may require you to sign up for your account and make deposits in person, most of them can be created right from your home.

All of the books have apps available on both iOS and Android devices. Simply download the app of your liking, create a new account, deposit funds and start making wagers in a matter of no time.

The only stipulation is that you must be of the legal age (21) to get an account up and running.
