While the Clippers (7-4) have gotten off to a decent start without one of their two star players, the Pelicans (2-8) have won just 20% of their games thus far. Tonight, the Pelicans will be hosting the Clippers in New Orleans.

The two Los Angeles teams are once again atop the Pacific standings after the Clippers have earned a 0.5-game lead over the Suns. Yet the Clippers will need to go on a winning streak in order to catch the 9-2 Lakers. Before yesterday’s loss to Houston, the Clippers defeated both Portland and Toronto.

On average, the Clippers are scoring 110.2 points and allowing 106.5 points per game.

Kawhi Leonard leads Los Angeles with 26.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, six assists, and 2.1 steals per game. Lou Williams is the team’s second-leading scorer with 22.1 points per game.

The Pelicans are in the basement of the Southwest standings and don’t look to be much of a threat without Zion Williamson on the floor. New Orleans is also coming off a loss to the Rockets.

On average, the Pelicans are scoring 117 points and allowing 122.4 points per contest.

Brandon Ingram leads New Orleans with 25.9 points per game, but it’s unclear if he’ll be able to go this evening after picking up a knock to his knee.

The North Carolina Tarheels (4-5) have a chance to get back to .500 this evening, but they’ll have to take down a solid Pittsburgh Panthers team (6-3) to do so. The over/under is set at 50.5 points.

It’s been a wild season for a North Carolina squad that defeated South Carolina and only lost to #1 Clemson by a single point, but who’s also lost to Wake Forest and Appalachian State. The Tarheels have scored 24 points or fewer in four of their games.

On average, the Tarheels are scoring 28 points per game on 445 yards of offense while allowing 27 points per game on 396 yards.

Although he’s completing just 58.2% of his passes, North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell has thrown for 2,472 yards, 26 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

Pittsburgh has won five of their last six games, starting with a win over #15 UCF. Over their last five games, the Panthers have scored more than 20 points just twice and allowed more than 20 points just once.

On average, the Pitt Panthers are scoring 21 points per game on 380 yards of offense while allowing 20 points per game on 280 yards.

Quarterback Kenny Pickett leads the Pittsburgh offense with 1,952 yards, but he’s managed only one more touchdown (9) than he has interceptions (8).

50* Powerhouse Play on Arkansas State -6 -109

After playing three games, the VMI Keydets (0-3) are still in search of their first victory of the season. Tonight, they’ll attempt to claim win number one when they go up against the Arkansas State Red Wolves (1-1).

The Keydets have failed to win any of their first three games against East Carolina, Marist, or Presbyterian, but they haven’t been blown out in any of them. While they lost by 12 to the Pirates, VMI only fell by two points to Marist and then Presbyterian needed overtime to get the win.

On average, the Keydets are scoring 67 points and allowing 72.7 points per game.

VMI only has two players scoring at least 10 points per game. Greg Parham leads the team with 12.7 points per game, and Jake Stephens trails shortly behind with 10.3 points per contest.

After opening the season with a win over Ark Monticello, the Red Wolves fell to Ole Miss by a score of 71-43. Thus far, Arkansas State is shooting 40.4% from the field.

On average, the Red Wolves are scoring 54 points and allowing 60 points per game.

VMI is led by guard Canberk Kus, who’s averaging 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, four steals, and three assists per game. J.J. Matthews is adding another 10 points and six rebounds per game.

The #3 Michigan State Spartans (1-1) aren’t afraid of testing themselves early in the season. After opening the year against #2 Kentucky, Sparty will now take on the #12 Seton Hall Pirates (2-0).

Entering the season as the top-ranked team, Michigan State fell to the Kentucky Wildcats by seven points in the season opener. The Spartans rebounded with a big 100-47 win over Binghamton days later.

On average, the Spartans are scoring 81 points and allowing 58 points per game.

Against Kentucky, Michigan State was unable to recover from a slow start after scoring just 24 points in the first half. Despite hitting just one of his seven three-point attempts, Cassius Winston led the Spartans by a wide margin by scoring 21 points in the contest.

Seton Hall opened the year with a pair of wins over Wagner and Stony Brook. Neither game was ever in jeopardy for the Pirates, who scored 105 against Wagner and held Stony Brook to just 57.

On average, the Pirates are scoring 89.5 points and allowing 64 points per game.

Currently, four Seton Hall players are scoring double-digit points per contest. Leading the group is Sandro Mamukelashvili, who’s averaging 14 points, five rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.

50* Powerhouse Play on Rangers +220

With 18 points apiece, the Rangers (8-6-2, 18 points) and Lightning (8-5-2, 18 points) are virtually even in the standings. Tonight, they’ll go head to head in Tampa Bay.

New York has won three of their last four, with the only a 6-5 loss keeping them from four-straight wins. Over this four-game stretch, the Rangers have scored 17 goals while allowing 10 goals.

On average, the Rangers are scoring 3.38 goals per game (8th) while allowing 3.25 goals per game (tied for 21st).

Aided by three power play goals, left winger Artemi Panarin leads the Rangers with eight total goals and 19 points. Although Henrik Lundqvist has recorded four wins, Alexandar Georgiev leads the team with a save percentage of .917 while allowing 2.73 goals per game.

The Lightning are also winners of three of their past four contests. However, Tampa Bay has allowed 16 goals in that period while scoring 15 of their own. Most recently, the Lightning defeated Buffalo twice in a row.

On average, the Lightning are scoring 3.40 goals per game (7th) while allowing 3.47 goals per game (25th).

With five goals and 10 assists, center Steven Stamkos leads the Lightning with 15 points. Goaltending has been a weakness for the Lightning. Andrei Vasilevskiy is allowing 3.01 goals per game, which is the best mark on the team.

The Canucks (10-6-3, 23 points) are doing everything they can to keep up with the Oilers in the Pacific. Tonight, they’ll continue in that endeavor by hosting the Stars (9-8-2, 20 points) in Vancouver.

The Stars are currently ahead of only Minnesota and Chicago in the Central, but a single win could leapfrog them over Winnipeg and Nashville. Only a 3-2 overtime loss has kept Dallas from now riding a six-game winning streak. Instead, the Stars are now aiming to build a new winning streak after taking down Calgary 3-1.

On average, the Stars are scoring 2.42 goals per game (29th) and allowing 2.37 goals per game (2nd).

Goaltending has been the strength of this Dallas team, and Ben Bishop leads the way with six wins, a save percentage of .930, and 2.12 goals allowed per game.

The Canucks trail only Edmonton and Arizona in the Pacific, but they’ll need to build a winning streak if they’ll keep up. Vancouver is coming off a 5-3 win over Nashville. Perhaps the biggest advantage the Canucks have in tonight’s contest is that Dallas will be playing the second game of a back-to-back.

On average, the Canucks are scoring 3.21 goals per game (12th) while allowing 2.58 goals per game (5th).

Center Elias Pettersson leads Vancouver with eight goals, 15 assists, and 23 points.

The Hurricanes (10-7-1, 21 points) and Sabres (9-6-2, 20 points) are both trying to regain positive momentum after hitting a string of losses. These two teams will face off tonight in Buffalo.

Carolina had been frustrated by a run of four-straight losses while allowing 17 goals. On Monday, the Hurricanes took that frustration out on the Senators, whom they beat by a score of 8-2. Sebastian Aho led the way with two goals.

On average, the Hurricanes are scoring 3.33 goals per game (10th) and allowing 2.89 goals per game (13th).

Defenseman Dougie Hamilton has been the most productive player for the Hurricanes, putting up team-highs for goals (8), assists (11), and points (19). With a save percentage of .907, Petr Mrazek is allowing 2.51 goals per game.

The Sabres enter this contest as losers of five straight. Buffalo allowed 18 goals in those five games while scoring just eight goals of their own.

On average, the Sabres are scoring 2.88 goals per game (17th) while allowing 2.76 goals per game (10th).

With eight goals,11 assists, and 19 points, center Jack Eichel leads Buffalo in all three categories. Goaltender Charlie Hutton leads the Sabres with 2.39 goals allowed per game and a .921 save percentage.

As the Steelers (5-4) are building momentum for a playoff run, they’ll go into Cleveland to battle the Browns (3-6) on Thursday Night Football. The over/under is set at 40 points.

Pittsburgh is currently riding a four-game winning streak that’s included three home wins and a road win against the Chargers. In all but one of those contests, the Steelers scored 24 points or more. In every game but the season opener against New England and their most recent contest, Pittsburgh has scored at least 20 points.

On average, the Steelers are scoring 21 points per game on 296 yards of offense while allowing 20 points per game on 356 yards.

Throwing for at least 240 yards in two of his last three games, Mason Rudolph has been good enough to get Pittsburgh in the playoff race. On the season, Rudolph has completed 64.5% of his passes with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions.

A disappointing season for the Browns became slightly more tolerable with last week’s three-point victory over Buffalo. Prior to that win, Cleveland lost four straight while allowing those opponents to score at least 24 points each.

On average, the Browns are scoring 19 points per game on 370 yards of offense while allowing 25 points per game on 374 yards.

Baker Mayfield was the good version of himself against the Bills. Mayfield threw for 238 yards with two touchdowns and no picks.
