My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Saturday is with the Edmonton Oilers with the money-line versus the Vegas Golden Knights. Edmonton (54-31-5) has won six games in a row after taking a 2-0 lead in this best-of-seven series with their 5-4 victory in overtime against the Golden Knights. The Oilers have won 14 of their last 20 games after a win against a fellow Pacific Division rival. They have also won 27 of their last 39 home games when favored. Vegas (54-25-11) has lost 9 of their last 12 opportunities on the road to avenge a loss at home. The Golden Knights have also lost 11 of their last 18 road games when priced in the -100 to -150 range. Take Edmonton with the money-line. Best of luck — Frank.

At 8:35 PM ET on Saturday, we will be playing Under the Total in the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves (569) and the Golden State Warriors (570) in Game Three of their Western Conference semifinal series. THE SITUATION: Minnesota (54-35) has won four of their last five games after their 117-93 victory at home against the Warriors in Game Two of this series on Thursday. Golden State (54-38) had won two games in a row before that loss.

REASONS TO TAKE UNDER THE TOTAL: The Timberwolves shot 50.6% from the field on Thursday which was their best shooting effort in their last six contests. But their half-court offense can bog down — they are only making 44.4% of their shots in the postseason which is resulting in just 106.0 Points-Per-Game. Minnesota has played 8 of their last 11 games Under the Total after a win by 20 or more points including four of those five games played on the road. Golden State’s offense was ineffective without Stephen Curry in Game Two as they only made 44.7% of their shots. Jimmy Butler does not look 100% due to the pelvic injury he suffered last round — he only scored 18 points. But the Warriors should play better defense back at home as the 50.6% shooting clip for the T-Wolves was their worst defensive effort in their last four contests. Golden State has played 5 of their last 7 games Under the Total after a loss by 20 or more points. They have also played 11 of their last 18 games Under the Total after failing to score more than 100 points. Additionally, they have played 8 of their last 13 games at home Under the Total.

FINAL TAKE: The Warriors have played 6 of their last 9 games at home Under the Total as an underdog of up to six points. 10* NBA Minnesota-Golden State ABC-TV O/U Special with Under the Total in the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves (569) and the Golden State Warriors (570). At 9:10 PM ET on Saturday, we will be playing Over the Total in the game between the Vegas Golden Knights (69) and the Edmonton Oilers (70) in Game Three of their Western Conference semifinal series. THE SITUATION: Vegas (54-25-11) has lost the first two games of this series after their 5-4 loss in overtime on Thursday. Edmonton (54-31-5) has won six games in a row.

REASONS TO TAKE OVER THE TOTAL: The Golden Knights are in this predicament because they are simply not getting good goaltending from Adin Hill. In Game Two, he allowed five goals on 37 shots — and he posted a -1.52 Goals Saved Above Expectation (GSAx) mark. In Game One, he allowed four goals on 28 shots with a substandard -1.52 GSAx clip. He is playing far below what the analytics indicate is mid-tier goaltending. Hill ranks 20th of the 26 goaltenders to appear in a postseason game this year by averaging -0.62 GSAx per 60 minutes. In his eight playoff games this postseason, he has a 3.16 Goals-Against-Average and a .874 save percentage. I simply do not think the form he was in during the Golden Knights Stanley Cup run two years ago is suddenly going to reappear. He was more effective at home during the regular season with a 2.40 GAA and a .910 save percentage in 28 games — but in his 22 games on the road, he had a 2.52 GAA and a .902 save percentage. The Vegas defense takes a hit tonight due to the injury of defenseman Brayden McNabb. But their scoring attack does get their leading scorer, Pavel Dorofeyov, who scored 36 goals in the regular season. Even without Dorofeyov in the last four games, they have scored at least three goals in four of their last five games. They will hit the ice desperate to avoid a 3-0 deficit. The Golden Knights have played 14 of their last 22 road games Over the Total against teams winning 51-60% of their games. Edmonton has played 16 of their last 23 home games Over the Total after winning on the road in their last game including seven of those last 10 occasions. They have not been getting great goaltending either from Calvin Pickard — and he has been declared out due to the injury he suffered late in Game Two. Stuart Skinner will be between the pipes again tonight after getting benched in Game Two of their previous series against the Los Angeles Kings. Frankly, Skinner was a disaster by allowing 11 goals in those first two games. He posted a 6.11 GAA and a .810 save percentage before getting benched — and he had -4.7 GSAx in those two games. He ranks second to last in the postseason with a -2.61 GSAx per 60-minute mark. In the regular season, he was mediocre at best with a 2.81 GAA and a .896 save percentage. Not having defenseman Mattias Ekholm is not helping the Oilers' cause in suppressing goals. But the Edmonton offense is clicking as they have scored at least four goals in five of their last six games. Even better, they are getting production from all four of their lines. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were only involved in the overtime goal in Game Two. The Oilers have played 13 of their last 21 games at home Over the Total against teams with a winning record — and they have played 6 of their last 9 home games Over the Total against teams winning 60-75% of their games.

FINAL TAKE: Edmonton has played 5 straight Overs in the third game of a best-of-seven series. Head coach Bruce Cassidy’s teams in his coaching career have played 13 of their 21 playoff games Over the Total when trailing in the playoff series including three of those four games since taking over the Golden Knights’ job. 25* NHL Pacific Division Total of the Year with Over the Total in the game between the Vegas Golden Knights (69) and the Edmonton Oilers (70). The Knicks have played 7 of their last 10 games Under the Total after an upset win against a fellow Atlantic Division rival. They have also played 11 of their last 18 games Over the Total after not allowing more than 100 points in their last game. Boston (65-24) has played 6 of their last 8 games Overer the Total after failing to score more than 100 points in their last game. At 12:30 PM ET on Saturday, we will be playing Bournemouth (200114) with the goal-line versus Aston Villa (200113). THE SITUATION: Bournemouth (W14-D11-L10) is unbeaten in their last five English Premier League matches after a 2-1 upset victory at Arsenal last Saturday. Aston Villa (W17-D9-L9) comes off a 1-0 victory against Fulham in the EPL on Saturday.

REASONS TO TAKE BOURNEMOUTH WITH THE GOAL-LINE: The Cherries are still motivated to win matches to quality for European competition next season, even if it is the Conference League events. They are in eighth place on the English Premier League table with points — and their 60.12 expected points actually rank them as the third-best team in the EPL this season using the advanced metrics. Hmmm. This is a must-win for manager Andoni Iraola’s side to stay competitive for the money that comes with European competition next month. This is an underrated side whose 55 actual goals betrays their 67.91 expected Goals (xG) on the season. At home, the Cherries have a W7-D4-L6 record with 25 points — and their expected points rise to 30.09. They have scored 21 goals at home at Vitality Stadium despite their 32.80 xG on their home pitch. Now they face a tired Aston Villa side that has recently been eliminated from both the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals and the FA Cup semifinals. Manager Unai Emery is fantastic and got every inch out of this roster — but this is a letdown spot for an injured roster. Realizing they were in competition for those important tournaments, ownership stepped up to take on Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United — but he is now injured and out the season. Even worse, they now lost their critical holding midfielder Youri Tielemans for at least this week with a muscle injury. The Villans are still in contention for the Champions League although the Europa League is more likely their destination. They have 31 points from a W9-D4-L3 mark since January 3rd in the EPL — but their expected points in those games drop to 26.85 given their luck on defense. They also have been better at home. On the road, they have scored 23 goals and conceded 29 goals — and their expected Goals Allowed (xGA) rises to 31.77.

FINAL TAKE: Don’t throw away your ticket if the Villans are holding a late lead! They have conceded eight goals in stoppage time after 90 minutes which is tied with the relegated Southampton for the worst in the EPL. On the other hand, the Cherries’ eight goals after stoppage time in the second half are the most in the EPL. At 3:35 PM ET on Saturday, we will be playing the Boston Celtics (567) minus the points versus the New York Knicks (568) in Game Three of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. THE SITUATION: Boston (65-24) has lost the first two games of this best-of-seven series after their 91-90 upset loss at home as a 10-point favorite against the Knicks on Wednesday. New York (57-33) has won three games in a row.

REASONS TO TAKE THE CELTICS MINUS THE POINTS: Boston once again could not hit the side of a barn with the basketball. After their disastrous Game One effort when they made only 15 of their 60 shots from behind the arc en route to a season-low 35.1% field goal percentage, they barely improved on Wednesday with a 36.2%$ shooting percentage — although they once again only made 25% of their 3-pointers by making just 10 of 40 those shots (25%). What’s going on? For starters, no team is more reliant on converting 3s than the Celtics — and that leads to more variance. And they already climbed the mountain to win the NBA title last year, so some good ole complacency from the reigning NBA champs. Kristaps Porzingis not being 100% has not helped matters either. After playing less than 13 minutes in Game One because of an in-game illness, he was only on the court for less than 14 minutes on Wednesday. With another 72 hours of fluids and recovery, he should be able to play full-time minutes in this must-win game. Boston is bringing it on the defensive end of the court. The Knicks only made 43.0% of their shots in Game Two which was still the worst defensive effort in their last three contests. Now after digging this big hole, the reigning champions should step on the road where they have played well all season. They are outscoring their home hosts by +9.2 Points-Per-Game — and they are making 36.4% of their shots from behind the arc on the road. The Celtics have covered the points spread in 15 of their last 20 games after suffering an upset loss including all eight of those games on the road. They have covered the point spread in 11 of their last 14 games after a loss at home including all five of those games on the road. They have covered the point spread in 9 of their last 12 games after a loss by six points or less including all five of those games on the road. They have also covered the point spread in 6 of their last 8 games after failing to score more than 100 points in their last contest. Additionally, Boston has covered the point spread in 13 of their last 18 games on the road when favored by 3.5 to 9.5 points. New York has now pulled off three straight upset victories after closing out their opening-round series with the Pistons with an upset victory at Detroit in Game Six. An emotional letdown may be looming. As it is, the Knicks have failed to cover the point spread in 5 of their last 7 games after an upset victory against a fellow Atlantic Division rival. They have failed to cover the point spread in 11 of their last 16 games after a straight-up win on the road against a divisional opponent including nine of those 12 games at home. They have also failed to cover the point spread in 6 of their last 9 home games after a win by six points or less. It’s not like New York is dominating this series. Both of their wins have been by four combined points with Game One going to overtime. They are only shooting 42.7% from the field in this series after following up their 37 of 88 effort in Game One with a 37 of 87 mark in Game Two. The Knicks have failed to cover the point spread in 9 of their last 13 home games as an underdog including all three of those games this season. They have also failed to cover the point spread in 9 of their last 12 games as an underdog getting 3.5 to 9.5 points including both of those games this season. Furthermore, they have failed to cover the point spread in 8 of their last 11 games against teams who are winning 70% or more of their games including four of those five games at home at Madison Square Garden.

FINAL TAKE: The Celtics have covered the point spread in 15 of their last 21 opportunities to avenge a loss including eight of those 11 games played on the road. 25* NBA Atlantic Division Game of the Year with the Boston Celtics (567) minus the points versus the New York Knicks (568).
